The Sentinel was a sci-fi/crime drama TV series which ran on UPN from 1996 to 1999. It starred Richard Burgi as a detective in the fictional city of Cascade, Washington (actually Vancouver in real life) with superhuman senses.
The following guns were used in The Sentinel (1996-1999):
Handguns
Taurus PT92
In the Pilot episode, "The Switchman", Detective Jim Ellison (Richard Burgi) carried a blued Taurus PT92 as his sidearm. This pistol was also used by many other characters on the show - nearly all of the Cascade PD officers also carried PT92s (apparently as a Beretta 92F stand-in), and most bad guys used them as well.
A nickel-plated PT92 was carried by Garrett Kincade (Robert Knott), the leader of the Sunrise Patriots militia group, in the episode "Siege".
SIG-Sauer P228
In the second episode of the first season, "Siege", Detective Ellison started carrying a SIG-Sauer P228, replacing the Taurus PT92 he had carried in the pilot episode. He typically carried the P228 in an IWB holster on his lower back. In several episodes, Blair Sandburg (Garett Maggart) handled Ellison's P228.
Ruger Speed Six
A Ruger Speed Six was carried by Captain Simon Banks (Bruce A. Young) as his sidearm. Detective Ellison also used Banks' Ruger in the episode, "Night Train".
Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith"
In the Pilot episode, "The Switchman", the Switchman (Molly Parker) was armed with a Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith" when Detective confronted her on the bus at the end of the episode. Ellison used his Taurus PT92 to shoot the Ladysmith out of her hand.
Glock 17
The Glock 17 was another pistol which appeared regularly on the show, in the hands of bad guys and some Cascade PD officers. A suppressed Glock 17 was used by Lee Bracket (Jeff Kaake) in the episode, "Rogue".
Smith & Wesson 5904/06
The Smith & Wesson 5900 pistol series (both the blued 5904 and stainless steel 5906) were used by many characters on the show.
SIG-Sauer P226
In the episode, "The Debt", Detective Earl Gaines (Sherman Augustus) carried a SIG-Sauer P226 as his sidearm. This gun was also later used by many other characters on the show, including Chief Taggart (Ken Earl) in "Rogue".
Ruger GP100
A Ruger GP100 with a four inch barrel was carried by Lieutenant Williams (Robert Wisdom) in "The Debt".
Jericho 941
In the episode, "Night Train", one of the mafia assassins on the train was armed with a Jericho 941 fitted with a suppressor.
Ruger P89
The other of the two mafia assassins in "Night Train" was armed with a suppressed Ruger P89. A suppressed P89 was also used in "Love and Guns".
Heckler & Koch P7M8
In "Rogue", Lt. Carolyn Plummer (Kelly Curtis) was armed with a Heckler & Koch P7M8 during the raid on Lee Brackett's house.
Walther PPK
Walther PPKs appeared in several episodes. A blued model was carried by Ted (Harry Van Gorkum) in "Attraction", and a stainless model was used by Brother Anthony (David Mitchell) in "Vow of Silence".
Rifles
"Knight .30-caliber"
In the episode, "Killers", the assassin Tommy Juno (James Parks) used a sniper rifle as his weapon-of-choice, which was not seen very clearly and was difficult to identify. At the trial, Detective Ellison referred to it as a "Knight .30-caliber with Starlight scope and laser sighting", but no such weapon exists in reality. Furthermore, the rifle was heard firing on semi-automatic even though it appears to have been a bolt-action design.
Assault Rifles
M16 (SP1)
In the Pilot episode, "The Switchman", the U.S. Army Rangers seen in the jungles of Peru were armed mostly with M16 rifles fitted with M16A2 hand guards and M16A1 flash hiders, as well as 20-round magazines. Ellison himself was also armed with one of these weapons when he met with the Rangers.
MGC M16 Replica
The Sentinel regularly featured many MGC M16 replica assault rifles in any scenes that didn't require firing weapons. The MGC M16s on the show were all modified to look like M16A2s by adding M16A2 hand guards and M16A1 flash hiders, but were recognizable as MGC replicas due to their forward assists. These were carried by most of the Sunrise Patriot militia gunmen in the episode "Siege", and Jim Ellison was seen using one of these rifles after taking it from one of the terrorists.
Diemaco C7/Colt Model 715
Many of the M16 rifles on the show were Diemaco C7s, or the Colt Model 715 equivalent. Due to a continuity error in the episode "Siege", Jim Ellison went from using a MGC M16 replica rifle in non-firing scenes to using a Colt Model 715 whenever the weapon had to be fired.
In the episode, "Love and Guns", one of these weapons was used by an armored car robber, fitted with a Cobray CM203.
XM177 + Cobray CM203
An XM177-type rifle was used by one of the Army Rangers and later by one of the SWAT officers in the Pilot episode, "The Switchman". They both used the exact same gun, which was fitted with a Cobray CM203 37mm launcher - the SWAT officer used his launcher to fire tear gas grenades (this seems to be one of the few instances where the CM203 was not portrayed as an HE grenade launcher, the most common use in Hollywood).
AK-47
Bad guys on the show (including many of the Sunrise Patriots gunmen) used milled receiver AK-47 rifles, but the ones seen appear to have been Hudson model gun replicas. Whenever the AK rifles were actually fired, Chinese Norinco Type 56s with stamped receivers were used.
Norinco Type 56
Norinco Type 56 rifles were used as firing AK-type rifles on the show.
Olympic Arms K23B
An Olympic Arms K23B compact assault rifle was used by one of the mobsters in "Vow of Silence" during the shootout at the monastery.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
The SWAT officers on the show regularly used Heckler & Koch MP5A3 submachine guns. The non-firing versions were mostly Tokyo Marui airsoft replicas. In the episode "Love and Guns", gun runner Hector Carasco (Geno Silva) was selling MP5s to criminals. When a stash of weapons were recovered at the scene of the armored car robbery, Detective Ellison pointed out that one of the weapons was an "MP5...special forces model."
Cobray M11/9
Many bad guys on the show used Cobray M11/9s.
MAC-10
In the episode, "The Debt", one of the gangbangers was armed with a MAC-10 during the opening shootout at the drug lab.
Micro Uzi
The other of the two gangbangers involved in the drug lab shootout in "The Debt" used a Micro Uzi with a side-folding stock.
Ruger MP9
One of the armored car robbers in "Love and Guns" was armed with a Ruger MP9.
Shotguns
Mossberg 500
Mossberg 500 shotguns were used by many of the Cascade PD officers.
Franchi SPAS-12
A Franchi SPAS-12 was carried by one of the Army Rangers in the Pilot episode, "The Switchman".
USAS-12
A USAS-12 combat shotgun with a 20-round drum magazine was used by one of the Army Rangers in the Pilot episode, "The Switchman". Another USAS-12 was used by one of the armored car robbers in "Love and Guns".
Other Weapons
DefTech 37mm launcher
DefTech 37mm launchers loaded with tear gas grenades were used by some of the SWAT officers in "The Switchman" during the raid on the cabin.
BGM-71 TOW
In the episode "Siege", the Sunrise Patriots terrorists used a BGM-71 TOW launcher to destroy a building when their ransom demands were not being met. The group's leader, Garrett Kincade (Robert Knott), even told them, "Use the TOW".
M72 LAW
In the episode "Love and Guns", the armored car robbers used M72 LAW rocket launchers. After Detective Ellison was involved in seizing a weapons shipment from Hector Carasco (Geno Silva), he mentioned to Captain Banks that "LAWS rocket launchers" were among the weapons confiscated during the raid.
