Differences about different models

How can I tell the differences between the Daniel M4 and Daniel M4A1? And the Daniel Mk18?--Dannyguns (talk) 08:36, 27 June 2018 (EDT)

Not sure about M4 versus M4A1, but the MK18 is easy, it has a 10.3 inch barrel. Evil Tim (talk) 09:00, 27 June 2018 (EDT)

Thanks for the quickly reply.--Dannyguns (talk) 09:02, 27 June 2018 (EDT)

Another problem I've noticed on this site: People seem to confuse the DD M4/M4A1 and Mk18 with ANY AR that is fitted with a DD RIS II forearm (read: what U.S. SOCOM calls the "M4 Block II" and Mark 18 Mod 1, respectively). Unless we can see the receiver or any other attributes associated with firearms made by DD, it's probably better not to assume that an entire AR was made by DD when likely, only the rail is DD. We should probably use the M4 Block II and Mark 18 Mod 1 designations, just as the U.S. military does. -MT2008 (talk) 09:25, 30 September 2018 (EDT)

Should we add the DD M4A1 and MK18 back to this page?

Headline says it all. I moved the DD clones of the M4A1 Block II (which DD just calls the "M4A1") and the Mk 18 Mod 1 (which DD just calls "MK18") to their respective entries on the M16 rifle series page. However, I'm second-guessing myself for doing this. Should I move them back here, and then update the re-directs? I do need to caution that if I do so, the M4A1 Block II and Mk 18 Mod 1 entries will be pretty short; so far as movies and television are concerned, pretty much every Block II-style rifle (M4 or MK18) that we've ever documented in Hollywood is a Daniel Defense gun. (A possible exception may be The Viral Factor, the first documented movie appearance of the Mk 18 Mod 1; that gun does appear to be a Colt gun - or at least a Colt lower - retrofitted with a MK18 RIS II rail.) -MT2008 (talk) 12:57, 1 December 2020 (EST)
