The Outpost is a 2020 war film directed by Rod Lurie and adapted from the 2012 non-fiction book The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor by Jake Tapper. The film depicts the real-life Battle of Kamdesh, which occurred on October 3, 2009 when Taliban fighters assaulted U.S. Army soldiers at Combat Outpost Keating in Afghanistan's Nuristan Province, resulting in one of the bloodiest battles of the War in Afghanistan. The film stars Scott Eastwood as Staff Sergeant Clinton Romesha and Caleb Landry Jones as Specialist Ty Carter, who both earned the Medal of Honor for their actions during the battle.

For the 2008 film starring Ray Stevenson, see Outpost.
The following weapons were used in the film The Outpost:

Rifles/Carbines

M4A1 Carbine

The M4A1 Carbine is used by nearly all of the U.S. Army soldiers at Combat Outpost Keating (COP Keating), including Staff Sergeant Clint Romesha (Scott Eastwood) and Specialist Ty Carter (Caleb Landry Jones). The M4A1 Carbines are all fitted with either Trijicon TA01 or TA31 ACOG scopes and side-mounted AN/PEQ-15 ATPIAL laser aiming modules.

AR-15 variant

Some of the U.S. Army soldiers at Combat Outpost Keating (COP Keating), most notably Specialist Ty Carter (Caleb Landry Jones), carry an unknown AR-15 carbine that is replicated to appear as an M4A1 carbine with the KAC quad rail handguard and LE buttstock, however these carbines feature a pencil M16A1 barrel, flat top upper receiver, brass deflector and an aftermarket/off brand forward assist which more or less closely resembles the Canadian C8A1 carbine.

AK-47

The Taliban fighters who assault COP Keating are mostly armed with AK-47 variants. Local villagers and Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers are also seen with AK-47s.

Arsenal AR-F

Bulgarian Arsenal AR-F rifles are used by Taliban fighters. The presence of numerous Arsenal ARs is likely due to the fact that most of the film was shot in Bulgaria.

FN Minimi (Modified to resemble M249 Paratrooper)

A modified FN Minimi, standing in for the M249 SAW Paratrooper, is used by U.S. Army soldiers during the battle. The weapon appears to have been an older model FN Minimi with its barrel shortened and a paratrooper stock added based on the retention of the flared flash hider and straight carry handle, and is equipped with an Elcan sight.
