Cold Case (2003-2010)

Cold Case was a television crime procedural that starred Kathryn Morris as Detective Lilly Rush, a homicide detective with the Philadelphia Police Department who worked in a unit that work unsolved cases that were not actively being investigated by the department. The series was executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (the CSI franchise) and aired in the US on CBS from 2003 to 2010.

In Season 2's "Time to Crime" (S2E13), a MAC-10 is used in a drive-by shooting in 1987 that kills a little girl. When the gun is finally recovered, the team traces it back from owner to owner until finally learning that the girl was killed accidentally by her older brother, who had been trying to kill the man their mother had been having an affair with (who turned out to be the same man who sold him the gun).
