12 Strong is a 2018 Afghanistan War film that focuses on the men of Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA) 595, the first Special Forces team deployed to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban only a few months following 9/11. Chris Hemsworth stars as Captain Mitch Nelson, the commanding officer of the Green Beret unit, who must find a way to work with a Northern Alliance warlord to take down the enemy. The film marked the US feature film directorial debut of Danish director Nicolai Fuglsig and was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (the producer of Black Hawk Down and the Pirates of the Caribbean series). The cast included Michael Shannon, Trevante Rhodes, Navid Negahban, William Fichtner, and Michael Peña.

A Soviet F-1 hand grenade is seen thrown in the direction of Mitch, who picks up and throws it back.
