These teams go in to find dinosaurs. Sure the Tactical teams have some firepower, but mostly it's the leads and they just walk everywhere and only a few of them are armed with tranquilizer guns. I have little sympathy for characters that constantly walk amongst dangerous monsters (sorry dinos) and are never armed so they have to fight them off with whatever is at hand. When you are part of a highly funded secret government agency that hunts and tracks anomalies and creatures, you get a F*&%king gun you twat!!! ::That's 'coz the leads are scientists, not soldiers! Technically, their job is to investigate the anomolies. Getting the creatures back is also a side-effect responsibility, but technically the armed forces are to deal with that, with the leads giving them advice. But, if you've seen the show, you'll know that the leads are what Lester would describe as 'maverick' and not caring for regulations, hence they mostly go and deal with the situation themelves. The question I'm wondering currently is, Stephen wasa shooting champion in his youth, that would explain his knowledge of firearm use, Abby is a zookeeper, so would've used tranquillizers alot, it is known that Connor was at first not trusted with firearms because of his inexperience, as the series went on, he learnt how to use them and hence was able to. This would not explain why Cutter seems to know how to use a pistol from the onset. It's not explained what a University Proffessor is doing with a firearm (although ... [[Indiana Jones]] ...). I'm curious on the firearm training Cutter has, especially as his conversation with Connor in 2.1 seems to suggest that Connor is the only one without firearms training ... --[[User:Imagine Wizard|Imagine Wizard]] 00:10, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
:::Too many times, these 'mavericks' put themselves and others in uncalled for danger by NOT being armed enough for the mission. BTW, have you been to Britain recently? Police officers all over the place are packing Heckler & Koch MP5s with body armor (this all post 9/11). If there were prehistoric creatures devouring people all over Britain, I am sure that any REAL agency would have heavily armed units accompanying these 'maverick' (i call them idiot) scientists everywhere they went. But it's a Brit show and the liberal Brit television heads are very anti gun. I note (on another British show) that Doctor Who (though it IS in character) won't kill an enemy, even though his 'compassionate' actions end up killing a lot of people who are helping him. Ahhh yes, but they hold the 'moral HIGH ground' ... that's it ;) [[User:MoviePropMaster2008|MoviePropMaster2008]]

::::Speaking as someone who is British and has lived in Britain his life, Police officer all over the place are not arming themselves. Only really places that are at risk, such as Downing St. and some airports. Also, they don't arm themselves because they don't actually want to kill the past creatures (they don't mind killing future creatures as much, as they don't affect their present) unless they actually need to. Also, the armed units actualy do acompany the leads on all missions in the first series, much less in the second series however, only really making an apperance in episode 4, and in series 3 they acompany them on all missions except episode 2 (where they didn't actually know they were going to find a creature, only seeing if Cutter's predictions were correct), I don't recall them having a role in episode 4, episode 6 (as the leads were actually on the run from the forces), 8 (Becker wanted them to be, but Abby and Danny overuled him as they wanted to find Jack ASAP) and episode 10 because they were tring to track down Helen (although it is true that an armed force would help, and a bit unusual actually, seeing as the last time they arrested Helen they used an armed force to do it. One could only imagine they didn't have time to get together a force). So actually, most of the time they did have an armed unit, only really missing in series 2 (coincidentally, the only series not to have the head of security of the team as a major cast member (Ryan and Becker in series 1 and 2 respectively). Also, as I had said, they didn't actually want to kill the creatures, hence why they went to deal with it themselves, as most of them DID have firearms training, and so could use a tranquilliser. --[[User:Imagine Wizard|Imagine Wizard]] 10:18, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
:I know it is not a firearm but the FN 303 is also not a firearm as it also uses compressed air and it has a page, I just thought that I would make a page for the taser as it is seen in quite a few movies and tv shows these days. --[[User:ThePotShot|ThePotShot]] 05:47, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
::That page can easily be removed if you so desire, however, one of the criteria is whether or not the general public will confuse it with a firearm (or the generally accepted definition of a firearm). No one wonders what a Taser is, they know what a Taser is and they KNOW it's not a firearm in the conventional sense of the word. [[User:MoviePropMaster2008|MoviePropMaster2008]] 01:16, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

I say let it stay. If you can hold it in your hand and use it to shoot a projectile out at someone, it's a firearm in my eyes, More so, even than some of the "fantasy weapons" allowed on here.--[[User:Spikemonkey|Spikemonkey]] 05:25, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

I suppose if you want to get pedantic, firearms are ranged weapons that rely on chemical explosives (where the "fire" in "firearm" comes from) to propel a projectile at something or someone to cause harm to it by breaking the target apart, and receives all of its propulsive energy at the start (unlike missiles or rockets which gradually accelerate). By this definition, a speargun is not a firearm (since it relies on tension rather than expanding gases to launch the projectile) and rail- or coil-guns don't count either, since they electromagnetically accelerate a projectile rather than using a chemical explosive (maybe the technical term should be "EMAC gun" and not rifle since they don't require any rifling in a barrel?).

I myself don't mind which way this wiki swings, since here we also list things that are not strictly man-portable firearms either (like the entries for rocket launchers, mines and vehicle-mounted weapons such as the Bushmaster chaingun). I would like this wiki to be on the inclusive side, so as long as it's within reason. One example is how I plan to include the "Less-Lethal Shotgun" on the [[S.W.A.T. 4]] page since it's converted from a Benelli Nova shotgun and still uses chemical explosives to propel its beanbags, but won't include the Pepper Spray in the game since it's not a ranged weapon nor was it made from a conventional firearm. The Pepper-ball gun I've decided to include anyway for completeness' sake, despite using compressed air instead of chemical explosives.

Either way, whichever the decision the powers-that-be here on this wiki make, it should be clear and posted somewhere easily accessed and seen so that the policy of this wiki will be clear and easily enforced for all contributors. --[[User:Mazryonh|Mazryonh]] 05:44, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

::Thanks. Will do. The problem is that SOME NEW MEMBERS always find a way to 'stretch' the definition of what should be on the site. I suppose that is why rules and regulations always end up being so LONG. This IS the Movie FIREARMS database, and yes, I've had FIGHTS with other members as to the 'mission creep' of ever expanding lists of stuff that appears on the site. One of these days we'll have a page for 'Sharp Stick' and there will be someone arguing as to why it should be here. [[User:MoviePropMaster2008|MoviePropMaster2008]] 01:13, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

I have no idea if this is finished or not but I think that if you delete this on the basis that it is not strictly a firearm, well, there will be so much other things that should be removed from the site, just like mines & such. Rocket launchers arn't firearms either. Just saying my view. :)
::That's 'coz the leads are scientists, not soldiers! Technically, their job is to investigate the anomolies. ::hahaha. Well Thanks for answering the question :) The only reason why I queried was that EVERY police department who adopted this handgun, immediately shifted to another gun within 9 months. I have buddies on SFPD, LAPD, and SDPD who hurl the most vile epithets at this pistol. Though I have shot the gun and don't think anything wrong with it, I've only shot it a few times but, a lot of cops hate it and didn't want to have their lives depend on it. Officially the SFPD adopted the gun for a whole 6 months, then immediately went to the SIG-Sauer 226 Stainless, LOL! I was just curious if you (a S&W Expert) knew anything behind this rampant hate of the gun in LEO circles ;) If you have heard anything let me know! My sources are not that forthcoming, except for their own personal bias.) Thanks for the reply. [[User:MoviePropMaster2008|MoviePropMaster2008]] 03:33, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
:::I have a buddy who bought the .45 version of the M&P shortly after it came out and has nothing but praise for it. However, what makes a good civilian pistol doesn't necessarily transfer to the professional world. -[[User:Anonymous|Anonymous]]
:::PS: as for the reason behind the hatred of the gun, I've heard some anecdotal evidence that the gun has a problem with the slide locking back while there are still rounds left in the magazine.

::::In my experience (handling, not firing), it's a decent pistol, but it's nothing outstanding. Besides the fact that it's ugly, my only problem with it is that the slide release is too small and stiff (and I say that as someone who's used to SIGs). I also can recall thinking that the release feels like it's made out of some super-light aluminum composite, almost as if the slightest vibration would send it upwards. So if it can cause the mags to lock (even when partially-full), I wouldn't be surprised. -[[User:MT2008|MT2008]] 04:57, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi, Could You Gun Guys Just Explain The Diffrences Between The M&P And XD As They Seem To Be Visually Similar, Similar To Be Sued Over As Glock Sued The Sigma Even To They Arn't That Similar-ish.
:To sign posts you case either hit the signature button (2nd buton from the right at the top of the text edit window) or just type <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>. As for the differences between the two they don't really look very similar at all to me, no more so than mny other polymer framed pistols. Just a few differences, the XD has a grip and trigger safety and the M&P doesn't, the XD's slide extends further forward of the frame and has full length rails along the side, the M&P has distinctive scaled serrations as opposed to the dtraight ones on the XD, the XD has a hooked trigger guard, the M&P grips have a leather-ish texture as opposed to the XD which has a grooved front and backstrap with a separated stipples central panel and a thumb dent, the list goes on. As for how Glock has been able to sue some companies, this is because they have trademarked the "shape" of their pistol, most notably the rectangular solid block shape of the slide which is square at the front (which is how they could attack the Sigma, after it was redesigned the top edges of the slide was rounded off so it wasn't square). Neither the XD nor the M&P have this so they are not really a viable target for Glock to sue (which they LOVE doing). Read [http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2012/08/20/glocks-trademark-design/ this], it explains it better. --[[User:Commando552|commando552]]
[[User:MoviePropMaster2008|MoviePropMaster2008]] 04:38, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
:But they're British, therefore they probably have to go through a bunch of shit just to get a gun and then more shit to keep it, like the British Designated Firearms Officers have to-[[User:S&Wshooter|S&Wshooter]] 01:09, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

==Flamethrower==
When a future fungus turns its host into a monster in the London underground, the ARC team tries to corner the creature with a number of flamethrowers.

==Electro Muscular Disruption weapons==
In season four, the ARC program is restructured and most of the weapons used by the ARC teams are retired to the armory and replaced with a fictional weapon series referred to as Electro Muscular Disruption weapons, or "EMD" for short (the EMD props appear to be built out of some sort of power tool, possibly a nail gun). The exact mechanics of these weapons are not elaborated on, but they are described as being similar in concept to a [[Taser]] in that their primary effect is to administer a strong electrical shock to whatever they hit. EMD shots also appear to have a kinetic effect on targets, as smaller creatures hit by an EMD are often sent reeling from the impact and the shots are capable of ricocheting off of flat metal surfaces. The power of each shot is widely adjustable, and there are four different EMD configurations seen in the show. All EMDs are outfitted with flashlights while in the field.

===EMD Pistol===
The smallest EMD variant is a basic pistol configuration, and is frequently used by both Abby ([[Hannah Spearritt]]) and Connor ([[Andrew Lee Potts]]) in place of their pistols from the previous seasons.
[[File:PrimevalS4E2emd3.jpg|thumb|none|600px|The ARC team (Abby with an EMD pistol an the rest with EMD rifles) pursues a rampaging Kaprosuchus at the docks. (S04E02)]]
[[File:PrimevalS4E4emd1.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Connor and Abby armed with EMD pistols while searching an abandoned prison. (S04E07)]]

===EMD Two-Handed Pistol===
Similar to the pistol EMD variant, this EMD features a shortened barrel and lacks a stock, but features the vertical foregrip seen on larger EMD variants.
[[File:PrimevalS4E1emd1.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Matt ([[Ciarán McMenamin]]) shows Becker the new EMD weapons. (S04E01)]]
[[File:PrimevalS4E1emd2.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Matt demonstrates how to use the EMD. (S04E01)]]

===EMD Carbine===
A medium-sized variant, this EMD features a short barrel (just a few inches longer than the EMD pistol barrel), two vertical foregrips, and a tube stock. This version is commonly seen in the hands of the various unnamed ARC soldiers.
[[File:PrimevalS4E1emd3.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Two ARC soldiers with EMD carbines. (S04E01)]]
[[File:PrimevalS4E2emd2.jpg|thumb|none|600px|A soldier readies his ARC carbine in front of Abby. (S04E02)]]

===EMD Rifle===
The largest EMD variant is a full-sized rifle with a full-length barrel and a (possibly adjustable) stock. This is the variant that Matt Anderson ([[Ciarán McMenamin]]) and Captain Becker ([[Ben Mansfield]]) use the most.
[[File:PrimevalS4E2emd1.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Bekcer shoulders his EMD rifle. (S04E02)]]
[[File:PrimevalS4E2emd3.jpg|thumb|none|600px|The ARC team (Abby with an EMD pistol an the rest with EMD rifles) pursues a rampaging Kaprosuchus at the docks. (S04E02)]]
[[File:PrimevalS4E2emd4.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Matt Anderson searches the docks for the Kaprosuchus. (S04E02)]]
[[File:PrimevalS4E2emd5.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Becker tracks the Kaprosuchus, giving the audience a clear view of the EMD rifle's stock. (S04E02)]]
[[File:PrimevalS4E2emd6.jpg|thumb|none|600px|The ARC team surrounds the downed Kaprosuchus. From left to right: Connor with an EMD carbine, Matt with an EMD rifle, Abby with an EMD pistol, and Becker with an EMD rifle. (S04E02)]]
[[File:PrimevalS4E1emd4.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Lester fires an EMD rifle at the "Tree Creeper" foolish enough to climb on top of his new Jaguar. (S05E05)]]
[[File:PrimevalS5E5emd1.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Matt fires an EMD point blank into the mount of an oncoming Tyrannosaur. (S05E05)]]
[[File:PrimevalS5E6emd1.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Jess Parker ([[Ruth Kearney]]) nervously holds an EMD rifle while Lester searches the armory for more weapons. Given that her job is to act as a field coordinator (relaying information to the ARC field teams from the ARC facility), it comes as no surprise that she is untrained on how to properly handle a firearm. (S05E05)]]

::::::A friend of mine shoots IPSC 3-gun. He used a P226 for quite a few years before buying a 9mm M&P. The way he goes on about it, Smith & Wesson invented the next thing better than sliced bread. I haven't shot it, but I can say that it would have to be pretty darn good to get me to put down my XD45. --[[User:Redram355|redram355]] 23:56, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
:::::::What does the departments that have used the M&P long term think of them? Not every department that adopted the pistol stopped using it months later because i know for a fact the New Mexico State police has been using the M&P357 for a while now and the Atlanta Police Department uses the M&P40 if I'm not mistaken. I have shot these series of pistols and i find them very reliable and natural in my hands i regularly carry my M&P9. --[[User:Gunman06|Gunman06]] 20:15, 20 March 2011 (CDT)
