Resident Evil: Retribution is the fifth installment in the Resident Evil film franchise. Milla Jovovich returns as Alice in the 2012 3D sequel and several characters from the previous films also make return appearances. In addition, several characters from the videogames not previously introduced make their film debuts here including Leon S. Kennedy (Johann Urb), Barry Burton (Kevin Durand), and Ada Wong (Li Bingbing).
SIG-Sauer P226
Alice (Milla Jovovich) is seen dual-wielding SIG-Sauer P226 pistols when engaging Umbrella soldiers at the beginning of the film, which takes place in the immediate aftermath of Resident Evil: Afterlife. This may be a continuity error, as she was not seen using these pistols in the previous film.
Smith & Wesson Model 629 Performance Center
The .44 Magnum Smith & Wesson Model 629 Performance Center is seen carried by Barry Burton (Kevin Durand). Holstered on his vest, the revolver appears to be mocked up to resemble its video game counterpart (which was a .357 Magnum Colt Python). Barry is first seen using it during the car chase through the Moscow simulation.
The pair of Yugoslavian made Model 61(i) Skorpion submachine guns is seen first being fired while Jill falls from an Umbrella attack ship at the film's opening. ==Handguns==
CZ 100
Motoko and the other members of Section Nine carry CZ 100 handguns, but again, they are only loosely based on the actual CZ 100, as the sides of the slide are squared off while the real model features bevelings on the slide. She also refers to it as a Zastava, confusing the CZ acronym of the former Yugoslavian gun making firm Crvena Zastava with the CZ of the real gun's manufacturer, Ceska Zbrojovka Uhersky Brod.

Mateba Revolver
Togusa carries yet another fictionalized version of a real gun, the Mateba M-M2007, a spinoff of the Mateba Model 6 Unica that borrows from the Mateba 2006M. It should be noted that the film's subtitles incorrectly translate "Mateba" as "Matever".

Jericho 941
Batou carries a Jericho 941, although it is identified as a 'Jericho 942' and is supposedly chambered in .50AE. Yet another fictional depiction of an actual gun. Batou is seen using this same pistol in the sequel, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.
Micro-Uzi
The hacker uses a (yet again fictional) modified Chinese copy of the Micro-Uzi with a different stock bracket and MAC-10-style front grip strap, loaded with "high-velocity ammunition" to destroy an armored van.

Steyr SPP
The diplomat's bodyguards that fire at police officers are armed with Steyr SPPs modified for fully automatic fire, attached to briefcase frames that drop clear at the press of a button.

CZN-M22
Motoko Kusanagi carries a fictional Crvena Zastava Nosle M22, a fictional submachine gun conceptually based on the FN P90 (and chambered in the same 5.7x28mm SS190 round) The CZN-22's lower portion resembles the FN F2000, taking the bottom loading bullpup system rather than the top loading system of the actual FN P90. The case in which she carries the weapon contains accessories including a sling, a bayonet, a sound suppressor and 40mm grenade launcher which replaces the foregrip.
During the film's finale, Batou uses a fictional assault rifle. This arrangement causes the weapon aesthetically resemble a "squished" Galil. The rifle also features a heat shield over the barrel, and the size of the magazines indicates that it is at least chambered for 7.62x51mm, and possibly for an even larger round.
The shotgun is either a Valtro, or a Norinco SAS. I could not find a photo of the Norinco SAS in the DB, so I used the Valtro. The Valtro is a pump, and the SAS has the charging handle on the wrong side, but they are much closer than the Gong, which is not a real gun. It's an entirely fictional weapon. -J3

*If there is a fictional weapon that bears an extremely strong resemblance to it and is part of a common element between this and other Shirow titles, doesn't that make more sense than an obscure real-world weapon that bears no similarity other than the box magazine and uses an entirely different action?
You changed it back to the Gong? I understand that you like that design, and that you seem to want it to be the Gong, but it's not. The lack of an exposed hammer alone should show you this. I'm going to quote what's posted there as of Oct 11: "This particular GONG is the more streamlined rendition seen in more recent adaptations of Shirow's work, such as the 2004 Appleseed film." This is incorrect. The Gong used in the 2004 Appleseed looks EXACTLY like the toy kit that is pictured on the Seburo page. Here is the Gong in Applessed 2004.

Saying things like "futuristic variant" and "streamlined" does not make the posting correct. I think it's time you read the rules and principles about the site being a resource for information and not a personal playground. I think it's very important we find the closest real world firearm possible, even if it is obscure. Especially if it is obscure. That's what the site is for. Read the rules and standards.

The shotgun he uses in this has a strong bevel at the rear of the receiver, and does not have an exposed hammer. The receiver is flat, the trigger is a standard modern trigger, as opposed to the oddball trigger on the Gong. The receiver is also horizontal, and doesn't have the angle the Gong has. The charging handle is different, and is in a different location, much lower than the Gong.

I do not view it as a personal playground, and I did not make those changes because I "like the design". I actually hate it. DO NOT try and make this into a personal argument. And while it is not an exact match by any means, it's closer than anything that has been suggested. Until someone can find a semi-automatic, box-magazine fed shotgun with a charging handle on the left side of the receiver, this is the best we've got. Also, sign your posts.--PistolJunkie 20:30, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm not trying to make this into a personal argument. Siting the principles from the rules page:
This is a source of Information for weapons and movie buffs around the world. Certainly it is tempting to think of IMFDB as one's own personal 'playground' but please realize that we do this work to serve others. It is harsh on one's ego to be corrected or to have one's information proven wrong, but it will always be in the best interests of IMFDB to maintain a high level of scholarly achievement in our analysis and documentation of the two worlds of firearms and film (which includes television and Anime as well as other visual media like Video Games).

I'm trying to make sure this page is up to site regs, and it's against the the rules to post fantasy weapons on a page. The chamber of his shotgun matches two real world firearms very closely, and does not match the gong, but that is beside the point. The point here is the the GONG is not a real gun. It's a fantasy weapon that is not based, in any way shape or form, on a real world weapon.

The page needs to be corrected, and the Gong removed. - --James3 23:36, 11 October 2010 (UTC)James3

:I promise you, this is not some ego trip. There have been many cases where I've been corrected and gladly fixed the error (speaking of which, I keep forgetting the SIG 510 bit brought to my attention below). The problem is that the argument that this must be modeled on a real weapon is faulty, seeing as the franchise makes constant use of fictional weapons right next to real world weapons. As for it being against the rules to post fictional weapons, that's false. It's against the rules to make pages for works that include nothing but fictional weapons, but in cases such as GitS (where fictional weapons are displayed next to real ones), any weapon that could be perceived as realistic (such as the CZN-22) is displayed and noted as fictional. At this point, though, I am more than happy to settle with your "Fictional Shotgun" description, although I'm still certain that the animators at least had the GONG in mind when animating it.--PistolJunkie 00:06, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Well to be fair, the original Gong (like many of Shirows designs) is in no way designed like a working gun. There is no place for the bolt to move (maybe it's diagonally downwards like the Kriss Super V, but i doubt Shirow had that idea years before the Kriss was invented). In one Manga chapter Shirow even removes the whole barrel, complete with chamber.
So theoretically, the Innocence gun *could* be an attempt to design a working version.
On the other hand, the Gong was always more of a "multi-purpose gun" in the Manga.

Battle Rifle
Batou's battlerifle looks more like a heavily modified SIG510. Its no 100% match (i think none of his weapons are), but the beerkeg-type charging handle definately says SIG.
Please, just compare the receiver to the images on this page http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/ba/Fass57-p1000721.jpg
And yes, the 510 has straight magazines too. It gets very clear when Batou reloads and racks the beerkeg-handle.
I agree the stock and the basic silhouette look similar to a Galil, but i think a page like this should stick to technical details.
While you don't need an expert gunsmith to attach a barrel shroud and a bipod pretty much anywhere you want, you'd need some serious dedication to make a Galil receiver look like a SIG510.
But yeah, the magazine is still too inclined.

It's not a Galil. It's close in some ways, but it's not the same firearm. I don't mind saying that it resembles a Galil, but I don't think we should say that it IS a Galil.

One other thing: Since the charging handle is housed back in the receiver, the tube above the barrel is probably a gas tube, or else it wouldn't have any function at all (The G3 family has a guiding tube for the charging handle above the barrel). This would make it a gas-driven weapon, although the SIG510 is recoil-operated. So the rifle still is a serious kit-bash.
Oh and if we assume it's 7.62x51mm (or another full rifle round), then it's no assault- but a battle rifle.

*Both the movie's original Japanese audio and the director's commentary clearly state that the rifle is chambered in .30 (=7.62mm). Wea0 22:12, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
*Keep in mind; Batou is a big guy, a larger handgun is going to look a little smaller in his hands. Plus the Korriphila is about 100mm in length, just a few off from the 5960, so the argument that it looks like a compact is rather silly if you're trying to press the Korriphila.
*Please at least use the spellcheck feature, try to write in decent sentences, and sign your posts. We'll take you more seriously if you do.
If anyone else wants to disagree with the page, please give an actual reason why you think it is something else. Please actually describe which features lead you to believe that.--PistolJunkie 13:26, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Hand Grenades
Anyone think the Hand Grenades tossed down the stairs are M67's or are supposed resemble them? Or are they a totally different grenade type? --FirearmsNewbie 22:52, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Based on the eponymous novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro 2033 is an FPS game set in the post-apocalyptic environs of a future Moscow devastated by nuclear war. The survivors have retreated into the underground Metro stations for shelter against the radiation on the surface, and for protection against the inhuman monstrosities which now stalk the dank tunnels below and the ravaged cityscapes above.

In accordance with the collapse of industry and the widespread loss of military hardware (thanks to the targeting of military installations during the nuclear exchange), many of the weapons found in the game are cobbled-together or improvised from scrap metal and spare parts, and military-grade weapons and ammunition have become exceedingly scarce, to the point where military-grade ammunition has come into use as the universal currency within the tunnels of the Moscow Metro system. This ammunition can also be used for extra damage during combat, but doing so will quickly lead to the financial equivalent of rapidly pissing money out of a gun barrel.
No other handgun types are found within the game, but it can be surmised that revolvers came back into general use for being easier to manufacture and maintain, along with how ineffective the more common Russian pistol calibers (9x18mm, 7.62x25mm, etc.) proved to be against the mutants and "Dark Ones."

Pneumatic Weaponry
Given the difficulties of manufacturing and maintaining firearms and their ammunition, coupled with the collapse of the pre-apocalypse industries dedicated to such tasks, it is no surprise that this class of weaponry has experienced a resurgence in the game's setting, with more easily manufactured ammunition, more quiet shots, and no need to pay for or make gunpowder. There are two types.

"Tihar"
A homemade pneumatic rifle, referred to as the "Tihar," firing 15mm ball bearings. The ammunition is propelled by a cylinder of compressed air, which attains its pressure by a handpump at the end of the handguard. A handy pressure gauge will show how much relative stopping power and distance the next shot will attain, with each shot draining a small amount of pressure from the cylinder. It is possible to overpressurise the cylinder for extra stopping power and range, but if not quickly used, the extra air will leak out and the gun will go back to normal power levels. The "Tihar" is capable of using a scope, turning it into a makeshift suppressed sniper rifle.

"Helsing"
The Helsing is a pneumatic speargun. It appears to be built around a revolver frame where the barrel has been replaced by a revolving magazine which holds eight crossbow bolts. Located under that is a pumpgun-like machanism used to compress air which is stored in a tank that is integrated into the stock. Like the pneumatic rifle, the higher the pressure attained, the greater the damage and the range achieved by the ammunition. The Helsing can come with or without a scope.

Other
Flamethrower
A common feature of Metro station roadblocks and combat trolleys for use against the Mutants. It has unlimited ammunition.

Pipe Bomb
Pipe Bombs are the game's version of grenades. They have a timed fuse. When lit and thrown, enemies can hear them coming and will get out of the way. This works both ways as well. A bomb with protruding nails can be found, and is stored in a different slot in your inventory. These can be thrown against surfaces, where they will stick to them.

Like the pneumatic rifle, the higher the pressure attained, the greater the damage and the range achieved by the ammunition. The Helsing can come with or without a scope.

The "P90" is actually no P90. It sure looks like one but is slightly modified (i. e. regarding the front grip); the game manual calls it the "AK2012" and describes it as the Russian army's latest service rifle. Despite the name, it has nothing in common with any existing AK model (except the chambering). --83.79.126.247 23:14, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
Already Changed

in clips I have seen it takes a lot of bullets to kill the monsters. I also think that all the guns fireing the same round would make thing easier on finding ammo

Just remember that bullets are also currency in Metro 2033, so that gives whole new meaning for "Every shot must count".
--AlkoTanko 12:47, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

That would make shooting even more interesting.

Some thoughts
First of all, there`s no such 50 cal sniper rifle like SVN-98 in game. The weapon on the screenshot is clearly a revolver with extended barrel, optics and stock (possibly early game model).

Second - all ingame revolvers are clearly loaded with .44 caliber rounds. Possibly .44 Magnum.

Third - there are two major modifications of AK: ingame "post-apocaliptic" AK (can be anything from AK-74, AKS-74 etc till AK-74M. And the broken ones that can be found around corpses are possibly AKS-74 (brown polyamide handguard and handle).
:::AK in game most probably is AK74M (scope mount, plastic folding buttstock), but has replaced upper receiver lid (it has reinforcing ribs). Or its AKS74N with replaced stock. Or its just a mix like you said. W\e.

There`s also Melnik`s (Miller`s) electro-gun, but I dont`t know how get it - maybe in Limited Edition version
: Its gonna be in DLC.

I like the idea of using handmade guns, as well as real firearms Rex095

Spoiler
EDIT: Spoiler was removed for sake of those -like myself- who've neither played the game or read the book. So yea...thanks for ruining it...

First: What does the ending of the game have to do here? It's a site about firearms, not about movie/game plots.
Second: Seriously? That means they just... threw away the ending of the book so that there could be no Metro 2034 (the book sequel)? --81.62.92.179 17:25, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
__TOC__<br clear="all">

Overview

Handguns
.44 Caliber Revolver
A six-shot revolver of unknown make and model, reminiscent of a Magnum revolver, using .44 caliber ammunition. It is the first weapon you acquire apart from the knife. Several customizations for this weapon can be found or purchased throughout the game, including an extended barrel, a rifle stock (effectively turning the revolver into a pistol-caliber carbine), a sound suppressor, and a scope.

Shotguns
Double-Barrelled Sawed-Off Shotgun
This makeshift weapon is referred to ingame as the "Duplet." The left and right triggers (X360) fire each each barrel and vice versa for Left Mouse and Right mouse buttons. Reasonably powerful at close range, but hobbled with a long reload time.

Heavy Automatic Shotgun
A heavy automatic shotgun reminiscent of a PKM modified to fire shotgun shells. Sold only with the limited edition copies of the game and as a pre-order bonus when ordered from gamestop.

Revolver Shotgun
A semi-automatic shotgun holding six shotgun shells in side-loaded cylinders, referred to ingame as the "Uboyneg." A variant with a bayonet can be purchased or discovered. Could be considered out-of-place given how simple and reliable modern pump-action shotguns with tube magazines are.

Assault Rifles
AK-74
The AK-74 appears in the game as the "Kalash." Despite its ubiquity in real life, the AK-74 is actually one of the rarer guns available ingame and fetches a high price at markets, which could be explained by how the remainder that survived the nuclear exchange were quickly snapped up by the warring factions ingame (i.e., high demand + no new units being manufactured = high price). It can be purchased with/without a scope. It has woodland green color scheme and a transparent orange magazine. Can use Military Grade ammo and a laser sight.

Kalash 2012
The Kalash 2012 is the bullpup configuration of the AK-74M produced in the year 2012, one year before the blast. It sports a civilian olive drab paintjob, a triple rail system, AK style front iron sights, and 5.45x45mm ammunition in a 40 round magazine. It can use a laser sight, scope and a suppressor. It's also one of the rarest weapons in the game, probably from the fact that there weren't many produced before the bombs fell and warring groups took all the ones they could get a hold of. It's the most modern gun in your arsenal and the most accurate of the assault rifles. It also accepts military grade ammunition.

"The Bastard"
Modelled after the Sten, this is a handmade compact assault rifle with a side-feeding clip, much like the Sten in real life was easy to manufacture without advanced tools and had a side-feeding magazine. The "Bastard," however, uses a clip as it lacks a spring and merely holds the bullets while the gun's mechanisms feed the ammunition and its entire container through the gun's barrel from left to right while firing. The player character receives this at his home station armory. It possesses a 30-round magazine capacity, is chambered for 5.45x39mm ammunition, and can use a silencer as well as Military Grade ammunition.
Referred to as the "VSV," this weapon is visually based off of the VSK-94, but unlike its parent firearm it is chambered for 5.45x39mm ammunition instead, fed from a transparent magazine containing 20 rounds. It retains the parent firearm's fully automatic and semiautomatic firing modes, and can be purchased with or without a scope. A laser sight is fitted under the barrel as well. It can use Military Grade ammo.
