Beretta 92SB
The Beretta 92SB appears in the game as the M9, and is used by Sgt. Paul Jackson and many of the Marines and enemies as their standard sidearm. It is a relatively weak pistol, but has the highest magazine capacity of 15 rounds of 9mm and the lowest recoil allowing quick follow up shots. A sound suppressed version can be used in multiplayer.

The H&K USP45 is seen in game as the sidearm of Pvt. "Soap" MacTavish and many other SAS soldiers in the game. It has a underbarrel flashlight that is unused in the game. It uses .45 ACP rounds in a 12 round magazine. It's recoil, capacity and stopping power make this gun the most balanced in classes, being slightly more powerful than the M9, but not as powerful as the M1911A1 or Desert Eagle. It is clearly a USP and not a SOCOM. It has a USP safety, and several other features that are different from a Mk. 23. However, it is incorrectly seen with a HK1 LAM [Laser Aiming Module], which only fits the Mk. 23 SOCOM. It can be supressed. This pistol is one of the most powerful sidearms in the whole game.

A version of the 1911 makes an appearance in game as the "M1911 .45." Though no one knows what it's specifically modeled after, the gun that it resembles most is a Springfield Armory Professional model (as opposed to the aforementioned Kimber and MEU (SOC) pistols) Features like the stainless steel barrel and bushing, Novak sights and match grade trigger separate it from the Kimber and MEU SOC which do not have these. It is used in game by Private "Soap" MacTavish, Captain Price, and Sergeant Paul Jackson as a sidearm in several levels, by Viktor Zakhaev to commit suicide, it is used by Captain Price to kill Al- Asad, and is unlockable in the multiplayer mode. It is also the gun slid to "Soap" in the final level by Price, used to take out Imran Zakhaev and his henchmen. Another stainless version is used by Staff Sergeant Griggs in the final level when tugging Soap to cover. It can be silenced.
IMI Desert Eagle
The Desert Eagle appears in this game and is the most powerful pistol holding 7 shots but having the most recoil. Two of the main villains, Khaled Al-Asad, and Imran Zakhaev, carry this pistol as their weapon of choice. Al-Asad uses his to kill President Al-Fulahni on TV. In single-player it is only usable once on the level "Crew Expendable" when a man with two of them jumps you on the ship. The rate of fire of the Desert Eagle is significantly slower to balance it out between the other weapons in the mission. In split screen multilayer, it is a usable sidearm. However, it is locked in online multilayer until the player reaches the high rank of brigadier general. In competition gaming the Desert Eagle is almost unanimously the preferred pistol for its power and accuracy. This gun is one of the six that has a gold form that doesn't change stats.
The Winchester 1200 appears in this game as the "W1200" and is used by some of the Marines and many enemies throughout the game. Gaz pulls out a Model 1200 in the "Crew Expendable" level, memorably quoting Hicks (Michael Biehn) (when he pulls out his Ithaca 37 "Stakeout") from Aliens, when he says he likes to "Keep it handy for close encounters". == Skorpion SA Vz.61 ==

The SA Vz.61 Skorpion appears in this game, and is used by some enemies. High short-range damage and an extreme rate of fire makes it effective up close, although it is hindered by a slow reload, low capacity of 20 .32 ACP rounds, and weak long-range damage. The weapon also has very little muzzle climb, and due to an early glitch in multiplayer whereby damage did not decrease when silenced, the weapon has been banned from all major competitive leagues. The ban is likely for its ability to cause 50 damage at close range [Half the regular health, 1/4th of the damage in Old School, and kills in one shot on Hardcore].

The Mini Uzi appears in this game, and is also used by many enemies. Modeled with weaker damage, it fires 9mm rounds from a 32 round magazine at a high rate of fire. The high rate of fire with bouncing recoil leaves its accuracy poor for all but the shortest ranges. Zakhaev's son uses one while escorting Al-Fulahni to his execution, and while running from Soap, Griggs and Gaz right up until the end. This gun has a gold form.
The H&K MP5A5 appears in this game and is used by Sgt. "Soap" McTavish (the player) and some of the SAS Operatives, and is also used by some of the enemies. The H&K MP5SD6 is also wielded by the player and some SAS Operatives in the prologue and epilogue levels. The SD model is fitted with a sound suppresor. The MP5 fires 9mm rounds from a 30 round magazine. Accurate and decently powerful, it is a popular all-around weapon in multiplayer especially.

This is not an MP5A3/SD as previously suggested, as it has a flat sided receiver with pictogram markings instead of the S-E-F markings on the A3. Wrong, It's an MP5N/SDN, it doesn't have the 4th selector option.
AKMSU
Like the P90, the Ak-74U is a sub-machine gun in name only. Firing 5.45x39mm intermediate rifle rounds, the Ak-74U is more accurately described as a miniature carbine. However, Call of Duty 4 does give it an attribute reflecting the nature of its rifle heritage. While it handles like the other SMGs, and its damage is modeled as equivalent to the H&K MP5, the Ak-74U can penetrate walls and other cover like the assault rifle class. None of the other SMGs have this advantage. With decent power and accuracy, the Ak-74U is an effective close and medium range weapon, with even-handling recoil and a high rate of fire from its 30-round magazine. In Campaign mode, it is mostly seen being used by Al Assad's forces in the Middle East and has a slower rate of fire than in multiplayer.

This weapon resemble very closely to the airsoft gun "AK-47 Beta Spetsnas" produced by the 3P Company. In this carbine can be seen as a mixture of component from between a AKS and a AKSU-74, with the addiction of a Picatinny rail on the forehand. It's too different from a yugoslavian M92 and also from a true bulgarian AKMSU.
FN P90 TR
The FN P90 TR, a version of the P90 with three accessory rails appears in the game, and is a rarely seen weapon (it is occasionally used by some of the enemies). Its sole "special" appearance is in "All Ghillied Up" as the P90SD (with suppressor and red dot sight), while in "Heat" and the epilogue mission "Mile High Club" it is simply the P90, unsuppressed and using open rail iron sights. In all versions it fires 5.7x28mm rounds from a 50-round magazine. As with its real world counterpart, the P90 is modeled with relatively weak per-hit damage and mediocre accuracy, but relies on a high rate of fire and large magazine capacity for its effectiveness. The weapon is easy to wield in multiplayer, so much so that it has been restricted in competitive play due to its "spray" advantage over other weapons. Despite however many additions, it always has a laser attached to the side rail, and if it does not have any special sights, it is seen as having HK Diopter sights.
M16A4
The M16A4 appears in the game, used by many of the US Marines. One of the characters, Lt. Vasquez, who is Sgt. Jackson's commander in the US levels, carries an M16A4/M203 combo as his weapon of choice. Modeled as full-auto, which would really be an M16A3, in the single-player mode, it fires 5.56mm NATO from a 30 round magazine. In-game, the M16A4 is attributed the same damage as the AK-47 and G3, despite the real weapon having far from the energy of either. In multiplayer, it is modeled accurately as an M16A4, firing a very quick three round burst, but with a slight pause between bursts. This makes an on-target salvo from the M16 very effective, but also makes misses much more costly, especially in close-quarters when pitted against full-auto weapons. In Singleplayer the M16 is seen as fully automatic while still having the carrying handle of an A4, this is easily remedied by putting an A4 upper on an A3 Lower.

Also note that when the M16 is mounted with optics, the front sight and the gas block are removed. This would render the gun unable to fire automatically after the first shot. The shooter would have to manually load a round into the chamber by racking the bolt. This would effectively make the gun a bolt action.
AK-47
The AK-47 appears in the game, and is used by most of the enemies and allied Russian soldiers. It fires 7.62x39mm rounds in a 30 round magazine. Some of them have GP-25 Kostyor 40mm muzzle loaded Grenade Launchers mounted on them. They feature a similar detonation safety as the M203 rounds, which is supposed to deter close-range use but instead encourages it due to massive (often lethal) impact damage. It is powerful and some-what accurate and is the equivalent to the M16 rifle. Online and especially in the competitive leagues, the AK-47 has become an established favorite for many of the same reasons it has in the real world; it is powerful and flexible, offering dependable performance in nearly every situation. This gun has a gold form most likely inspired by Saddam Hussein's gold AK-47. As another user pointed out, it is a hybrid, it is milled but has strengthening ribs.
The M4A1 Carbine appears in the multi-player game with iron sights (which can be replaced with a red dot sight or ACOG scope), but appears in the single-player game only in three specialized versions:

*The "normal" M4A1, used by the U.S. Marines in their missions and Soap in the final mission of the story with a Tasco red dot scope (exclusive to those missions) and forward handgrip (with no statistical effect unlike the multiplayer attachment for shotguns and machine guns).
*The M4A1 Grenadier, which uses a EOTech Holographic Weapon Sight (exclusive to "The Bog," "War Pig," and "Shock and Awe" single-player missions) and M203 grenade launcher.

*The 'M4A1 SOPMOD, used by the SAS with a Sure Shot Reflex Sight, a suppressor, and the M203 grenade launcher. This is slightly inaccurate, as the actual SAS uses the Canadian C8SFW, a similar weapon to the M4.

The M4A1 is a fully automatic firing carbine version of the M16 rifle and being such is modeled to have quicker but less accurate and stable handling. While damage can be expected to be lower due to a shorter barrel, the game exaggerates this difference, modeling similar damage characteristics as the Uzi and P90. This may have been intended to reflect the nature of the carbine as a bridge between a battle rifle and an SMG/PDW.

Also note that when the M4 is mounted with optics, the front sight and the gas block are removed. This would render the gun unable to fire automatically after the first shot. The shooter would have to manually load a round into the chamber by racking the bolt. This would effectively make the gun a bolt action.
The H&K G3A4, noted by collapsing stock, and a normal length barrel, distinguishing it from the G3KA4 appears in this game and, like the AK-47, is used by many of the enemies in the game. It has full-auto function in single-player, but is reduced to semi-auto in multiplayer. The G3A4 fires 7.62x51mm NATO from a 20-round magazine. In the game, the base damage from this round is made equivalent to both the AK-47 and M16A4, though it seems to have better damage at range. The M14, which fires the same ammunition and is in the same class however, is correctly modeled as being more powerful than rifles firing intermediate cartridges such as the 5.56x45mm NATO or the 7.62.x39mm Soviet. The in-game weapon correctly reflects the real-world high accuracy of the G3, but its recoil is made to be incredibly light, much milder even than the AK-47. Its accuracy and damage combine to make it the best assault rifle in single-player, but in multi-player it's limited to semi-auto to prevent the scoped G3 from being guaranteed death at every range.

I don't want to start a debate here, but I was playing MW the other day, and i noticed that there is no paddle release behind the magazine well. That would make this a HK91. I forgot the variants of the '91, sorry about that. I noticed this when I was playing single player out of boredom, and I had the Slow-motion cheat on, so I could see the magazine well pretty well. I do not however know about the multiplayer version. My stepbrother has taken over the '360 for the time being.- W190009637
It has a Tasco Laser Scope in single player and open sights in multiplayer. It comes with a 30 round 5.56mm magazine. It slightly heavier recoil and slower rate of fire than the M4, but much less sight sway. It is modeled with equal damage to the M4, reflecting its intermediate status as a compact assault-rifle carbine.
It fires 7.62x51mm from a 20 round magazine, like the G3, but unlike the G3 is accurately portrayed as being significantly more powerful than the other assault rifles, and has a hefty recoil befitting the powerful cartridge.
Its heavy recoil also consumes time for a follow up shot. It is used by "Soap" McTavish in the single-player exclusively in the "Sins of the Father" mission, prior to the pursuit of Victor Zakhaev. It holds four rounds of .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm NATO). The caliber is determined based on the size of the bolt and breech. It is well known for its power, precision, and reliability. It's design is mainly based on the AK-47, but is chambered in 7.62x54R(rimmed) cartridges for increased range and power. A programming error means that all weapons with scopes use the M40A3 reticle image, called scope_overlay_m40a3, rather than their own; the game files contain seven other reticle models, including two seperate ones for the M21.
He jumps out armed with one ready for your use and for some reason the single player version fires faster than the one in multiplayer. It is also more common in multiplayer.
The GP-25 grenade launcher is seen on the AK-47 only, while it is 40mm, it is seen as being able to use the same rounds as the M203s, which it cannot. One is also seen mounted on an AK-74U in the armory in the tutorial. This could be remedied easily as putting the M203PI on the AK-47.
Faust carries a Desert Eagle with a laser aiming module attached it. Equipped with incorrect 3-dot sights. An error in modeling, the XIX features only two rail cuts on its slide, while the model in-game features many, similar to a Picatinny rail. Main sidearm of the Brazilian militia. Surprisingly, quite a few Americans, most notably Cpl. Dunn, use this gun as their preferred sidearm. Dual wield available.
Seen in MP gameplay footage. Used by General Shepard in the Campaign in a couple of significant instances in the story. In one scene, he pulls back the hammer, and then the cylinder incorrectly rotates again when he pulls the trigger. Earlier in the story, we see that the pistol is holstered, yet he pulls the same model of pistol out to shoot someone, as though he has another big Anaconda tucked in the back of his pants.
This firearm is an M14 featuring a SAGE EBR stock, Harris Bi-pod, and vertical front grip, however, it is fitted with a Magpul CTR stock instead of the standard telescoping SAGE stock. This seems to be the weapon of choice for Captain MacTavish, and is very rarely found in singleplayer without a scope attached. It is the last sniper rifle to be unlocked in multiplayer. Also noted is that it is labeled incorrectly as the "M21EBR", when it should only be the "M14EBR".
A Javelin Launcher seems to be another available launcher for use in Multiplayer. While the multiplayer version has limited ammo, the singleplayer version has infinite ammo. Unlike the real thing (and the MW1 version) the Javelin is able to lock on to helicopters.
:I believe the Javelin has a direct fire mode that can be used to engage low flying helicopters (same fire mode was used in War of the Worlds and Cloverfield). However, in the game, the player still use top attack mode on the Mi-28s, which is not the proper way to use Javelins to engage helicopters.--Wildcards 19:16, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Beretta M9
Snake begins the game with a modified Beretta M9, the military version of the 92FS, fitted with a suppressor and loaded with tranquilizer rounds that will knock out enemies. The gun is also fitted with a laser-sight. To keep noise down from cycling a new round, the slide is locked closed and snake must cock the gun manually after every shot. Raiden also begins his story using the same type of tranquilizer pistol.

Makarov PM
Olga Gurlukovich is seen with this gun when the player first meets her. She tosses the gun overboard shortly afterwards, after Snake orders her to do so. Raiden also observes the other soldiers carrying Makarovs later in the game, but only use them when they run out of ammunition for their primary weapon, or sometimes when you injure their right arm. This weapon can not be obtained by the player.

H&K USP45
Olga Gurlukovich uses this gun when dueling with the player. After defeating her, the player is able to take the gun and use it themselves. It can be fitted with a suppressor (Enhanced version only), and also comes with a tactical flashlight that turns on automatically when the weapon is raised in a dark area. Unfortunately this becomes a hinderance when trying to keep a low profile and it doesn't blind the enemy while using thermal goggles (in a real-life situation it would probably serve to disorient them a bit).

AKS-74U
AKS-74U rifle is used by most of the Gurlukovich soldiers throughout the game. It can eventually be obtained by the player, and can also be fitted with a suppressor.

Heckler & Koch Mk. 23 SOCOM
Raiden is given this pistol early in the Plant chapter of the game. Like the M9, this gun is fitted with a laser sight, though it is not used to aim in first-person mode (instead, the player aims using the iron sights). Can also be fitted with a suppressor.

AN-94
This assault rifle is used by the Gurlukovich soldiers on Big Shell. It cannot be obtained by the player.

M4A1
The M4A1 is carried by Navy SEAL Team 10, and can later be acquired by the player, with a laser sight and fully automatic fire capability. It is also used by the clearing teams in the Big Shell. The M4A1 that the clearing teams use has a M203 grenade launcher attached.
The Marines in the Tanker also use the M4A1/M203 combo to fight back against Metal Gear RAY. Snake also carries an M4A1, later attaching an M203 for use against Solidus. The game lists it as an M4 rifle, but its fully automatic fire makes it an M4A1, not an M4, which is a burst rifle.
The Franchi SPAS-12 is carried by the clearing teams in the Big Shell.

Heckler & Koch USP
Olga Gurlukovich uses this gun when dueling with the player. After defeating her, the player is able to take the gun and use it themselves. It can be fitted with a suppressor (Enhanced version only), and also comes with a tactical flashlight that turns on automatically when the weapon is raised in a dark area. Unfortunately this becomes a hinderance when trying to keep a low profile and it doesn't blind the enemy while using thermal goggles (in a real-life situation it would probably serve to disorient them a bit).

AKS-74U
This assault rifle is used by most of the Gurlukovich soldiers throughout the game.
This assault rifle is used by the Gurlukovich soldiers on Big Shell. It cannot be obtained by the player.
Raiden also observes the other soldiers carrying Makarovs later in the game, but only use them when they run out of ammunition for their primary weapon, or sometimes when you injure their right arm. This weapon can not be obtained by the player.

Colt M4A1
The M4A1 is carried by Navy SEAL Team 10, and can later be acquired by the player, with a laser sight and fully automatic fire capability.
The Tengus in Arsenal Gear are seen carrying these weapons. Solidus is also seen with it.

Franchi SPAS-12
The SPAS-12 is carried by the clearing teams in the Big Shell.

H&K PSG-1
Sniper rifle used by Raiden and Pliskin. A tranquilizer variant is available as the PSG-1T

Glock 18
Fatman's weapon of choice. He uses this in his battle with Raiden.

RH-Alan RGB6
Croatian made 40mm grenade launcher. Used by Raiden.

Nikita
Remote controlled missile launcher. Used by Raiden.
