Lanchester Carbine
The sub-machine guns used by Biggles and companions in the First World War scenes is the (anachronistic) Lanchester Machine Carbine. This weapon, a copy of the Bergmann MP-18/MP-28, was produced in small numbers during the early part of World War II in Britain but was rapidly replaced by the far cheaper STEN gun.
The few thousand that were manufactured went to the Royal Navy and were still in service well into the 1960s.

In reality the only sub-machine gun used during the First World War was the Bergmann MP-18, with the odd "snail drum" magazine projecting from the left side; the Italian FIAT-Villar Perosa Mod 15 was used as a light machine gun, despite firing a pistol round.
Nevertheless there are some Mauser rifles that have the characteristic G98 rollercoaster sight, but they seem to have shortened barrels, perhaps modified models.

Ultimate Force was a British Television show that ran from 2002-2006. It centered around 'Red Troop', a crack SAS (Special Air Service) unit that was given the task of defending Britain from Terrorist threats in the Post 9/11 World. One of the creators was former SAS soldier Chris Ryan, and as such, has many elements of the real world SAS within the show. One criticism was the show's deference to "political correctness" when it had a female character joining the frontline SAS unit and engaging in front line combat, which would never happen in real life (even in today's mixed gender armed services).
The SIG-Sauer P226 is the preferred sidearm of Red Troop and is used throughout the series. It is seen most prominently in Episode 1.5, "The Killing of a One-Eyed Bookie" in the hands of Sgt. Henno Garvie (Ross Kemp), who uses his P226 to take down several Kalashnikov-toting IRA terrorists during an ambush.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
The standard-issue weapons for the SAS unit Red Troop in the TV show are Heckler & Koch MP5A3 submachine guns, which are always seen with Surefire fore ends and tactical flashlights as well as the SEF-style lower receiver. These weapons are typically used in Red Troop's domestic hostage rescue missions.

The other SAS unit, Blue Troop, also use identical weapons, as do many Metropolitan Police SO19 (now CO19) officers throughout the show.
Red Troop also makes use of the suppressed Heckler & Koch MP5SD3 on some missions where maintaining a low profile is preferable in order to avoid alerting terrorists to their presence. ===M16 series rifles===

For overseas missions where hostages and CQB are not important considerations, Red Troop uses several models in the M16 rifle series, ranging from the very earliest M16 (SP1) to the M16A2, though in nearly all cases, their rifles seem to be fitted with the handguards of M16A2s. They also use Cobray 37mm Launchers (to impersonate the M203) quite frequently.

CAR-15/M16 carbine series
Red Troop also uses CAR-15/M16 carbine variations on its overseas missions which, like the full-size M16s they are also seen using, often have fake M203 grenade launchers mounted under the barrels.

Throughout Season 3, Henno often uses a CAR-15 with an M203 of unknown variant. It looks like an XM177E2, except that it has a brass deflector on the receiver.

Model 733 CAR-15s (with 11.5-inch barrels and M16A2-style receivers) are used in several episodes, most notably Episode 3.4, "Weapon of Choice".
Heckler & Koch HK33
Another weapon which appears regularly in the series is the Heckler & Koch HK33, and more specifically, the HK33A3 folding-stock variant. Red Troop typically uses these weapons with claw mounts and scopes as semi-automatic sniper rifles (i.e. Episode 1.5, "The Killing of a One-Eyed Bookie" and 3.4, "Weapon of Choice"). They also appear in the hands of French special forces in Episode 2.1, "Communication".

AK-47/AKM variations
Many AK-47 and AKM variants appear in the series in the hands of terrorists, rebel groups, and Third World armies. Red Troop also use AKs sometimes when they are out of ammunition for their own weapons, or when other weapons are not available.

Typical of most movies and TV shows made in the West, the Chinese Norinco Type 56 (particularly the folding-stock Type 56-1) is the most frequently-seen Kalashnikov derivative in the series.

AKM rifles (or possibly Egyptian MISR copies or some other derivative) also appear in many episodes.

Also common in the show are Yugoslav Zastava M70B1 and M70B2 assault rifles (i.e. Episode 1.5, "The Killing of a One-Eyed Bookie", and Henno also uses an M70B1 in Episode 1.6, "Something to Do with Justice"). These are Yugoslavian AKM variants with folding ladder sights for launching grenades.
I've only watched episode 1 of season 4, will replace some of the caps with others if they show up in the rest of the season. They might not be real M4s judging from the barrels. Everyone's in that episode except Louis had these M4s. Jem's Car-15 was selected either because they ran out of M4s or because his was able to attach an M203.

Survivors is a drama shown on BBC One, BBC Entertainment (South Africa), BBC America, NRJ 12 (France), Channel Nine (Australia) and on the BBC iPlayer service, split into 2 seasons and 12 parts. A third season is speculated. It follows the survivors of a flu-like virus which kills approximately 99.9% of the world's population. (Think 28 Days Later but without zombies.) Despite the action following the small pocket of survivors living in Great Britain, handguns are commonly seen in the series. Only certain licensed people such as vets can carry a handgun in the UK unless that handgun has a long barrel and stock. Surprisingly, bolt-action rifles, lever-action rifles, and air weapons are not seen, despite being perfectly legal and readily available (rifled firearms are in no way common in the UK, even when chambered in .22 rim fire). Shotguns are also readily available in the UK and commonly seen, most likely looted from gun/sport shops. As the only semi and fully automatic rifles in the UK for public use have to be chambered in .22 rimfire, it is safe to say that weapons not fitting that group are, or were originally in government, police, military, or private contractors hands, however smooth barrelled semi automatic firearms are extremely common in calibres such as 12, 20 and 410 gauge among sportsmen and hunters in the UK.

Browning Hi-Power
A Browning Hi-Power is the first gun seen in the series. It is seen in the hands of escaped criminal, Tom Price (Max Beesley), who loads the thirteen rounds into the magazine and fires the gun at a near-by tree. The gun was previously encased in a waterproof bin-liner and submerged in a rainwater collection barrel.

The ownership of handguns is highly restricted and they are essentially banned for private ownership. The Browning Hi-Power was used by the UK military and remains popular amongst criminals (such as Tom Price)
Beretta 92FS
In a later episode, the main protagonist ends up in a sustainable community, headed by the lone surviving member of the British political system, Samantha Willis (Nikki Amuka-Bird). When they capture two 'raiders', they decide to to exercise some justice, by (in a very 'British' manner) shooting one of them squarely in the head with a Beretta 92FS pistol, a firearm that is nearly impossible to acquire through legal channels (even for the police). What's more, the shooter ,Samantha Willis, is almost knocked down by the recoil of the gun. Coupled with that, 1) It's safe to say she's never fired a gun before. 2) She is portrayed as being very weak, especially when holding a gun. 3) Where the hell did she get the gun from (British police officers are not regularly armed with any firearm, and even then they use Glocks). 4) She's remarkably accurate. It's safe to say that the program focuses more on the plot than on realism.
Used by survivors in Samantha Willis's community. In the course of the first season, the gun is shown prominently from the third episode onwards. In season two of the show, the gun is used from the outset until episode three, whereby it is lost when one of the characters is captured and taken to a mine. It is also revealed to be unloaded at the end of season two, episode one. It is a standard extended barrel 870 with deer gun (slug) sights on the barrel.

The double barreled boxlock shotgun is in the hands of a 'raider' named Dexter. It is featured prominently throughout the second episode, where it is used in a threatening manner many times and is also used for shooting down some wild champagne bottles in a car park. It appears to be a higher end British manufactured shotgun, noting the stock style and the possibly engraved 'silver' receiver - maybe a Purdey's or Holland & Holland or Churchill or Greener.
Heckler & Koch MP5
In series 2, the MP5 is commonly seen used by unknown British military/government/private contractors who guard key surviving installations. It is also seen in the hands of guards at Samantha Willis's colony and in episode 6 of series 2, in the hands of the survivors. Presumably in its A3 variant, the weapon would be regularly available in the UK, as it is a firm favourite with the British regular Police, CO19 (SWAT style unit) and with special forces/government agencies inside the UK. Why no standard British army weapons are seen is unknown, as many hundreds of thousands of L85A2's and other weapons would be available, and possibly the soldiers to use them. Especially to any government unit such as the lab where the vaccine is being developed.
The MP5A3s are semi-automatic versions as it is downright illegal for the British Police to have fully-automatic weapons.

Not true - the first MP5's the Metropolitan Police bought were full auto MP5SD's. These were later modified to semi auto, but for a time were used full auto. Of course, the law may have changed in more recent times. They also have/had the MP5Ks in full auto.
Two of the "Nazi" monsters carry Ingram MAC-11 submachine guns, chambered in .380 ACP, noted for their small side in the actor's hands. The sound effect of the gunfire is about 450 rounds per minute (like an M3A1 "Grease Gun"), which is more probably due to the sound effect in editing, and not the actual rate of fire of the submachine gun.
