== Series Templates ==

The short answer is that yes, you need to create a new one. The longer answer is that (in theory) you could use parsing functions to making templates that are all based off of one template so that the new templates would all look the same, but this restricts the format and would take hours and hours of coding. Each template is different (compare the [[Template:1911|1911 Template]] to the [[Template:Tom Clancy Series|Tom Clancy]] template). Now what we could and I think should do, is change the sub-categories to something like "Media Seires" and "Gun Series" (separating 1911 from Tom Clancy). At the end of the day tho, eventually there are going to be a lot of templates but if you concern is that there will be a lot to sift through, there is always an easier way to add the template. When you create a new template, you know what its called and you add it to the pages as you create it. If you are creating a new page and need to add it to the template, and the template to the page, just go to another page in the series. In other words, if you are adding "Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4" (no such thing... yet...), just go to the Modern Warfare 2 page and copy and paste the code from the bottom.

I've been spending a lot of time working on these templates and haven't really gotten any feedback from admins. It's also frustrating because there are a lot of things that I would like to do but can't since I'm not an admin. For example, I keep having to ask one of you guys to add a new template to the locked page... I'm not as much of a gun enthusiast as most of the people here, but I am a computer engineer with a lot of coding experience so I'm just trying to do my best to help out. I will kick around the idea of a generic template and try some different things but no promises... It will literally require hours of coding.

In the mean time, I would love to hear some feedback on the templates that I have already added. Are there other templates that you think could be useful? Throw ideas at me and I'll let you know what I think is doable. --[[User:Zackmann08|Zackmann08]] 23:40, 17 June 2012 (CDT)

:You are correct, and that is the beauty of using templates. Make the change in ONE place, it automatically changes everywhere else. :-) I SWEAR when I made the Pink Panther template, Pink Panther 3 was listed on IMDB and its not now... Theoretically, every page is considered incomplete until it get screencaps from the official home video release, so the upcoming tag provides an excuse as to why those caps aren't there. The tag also is a disclaimer, covering our asses and reminding everyone that "Any screenshots used are from official Trailers and sources" and not bootlegs. Hey, I recently watched the series, and noticed some guns not present in this list.

Glock - used by bounty hunters/mercenaries, most clearly seen in the part where the bounty hunters are chasing the counterfeiter and during the ensuing gunfight on the PT boat.

Browning HP type handgun- used by Yakuza, possibly other characters -seen clearly in the last episode where it's the first handgun Kosa's bodyguard hands over to Balalaika's bodyguard. Strangely it changes into a Sig Sauer P226 when he hands it over, though!

Makarov PM - used by Balalaika's bodyguard Boris and several other Hotel Moscow soldiers when they don't have AK's.

Mossberg 590 - used by the first bounty hunter to break into the counterfeiter Jane's hotel room, and a few others. Clearly a Mossberg 590 due to the barrel shroud and tang safety (which oddly looks like a hammer to a Henry lever action rifle or something, rather than the real life safety).

Remington 870 with extended magazine - used by various thugs in the series, in addition to Marine Magnums like the one Dutch uses.

Winchester 1300 Defender/Ithaca 37 with extended magazine (?) - used by Yakuza in the bowling alley.

M249 Para(?) - when Roberta drops her suitcase machine gun, it opens and for a brief second one can see a machine gun of some sort inside. It looks to me like a Minimi/M249 Para.

NSV machine gun - the heavy machine gun used by Hotel Moscow to shoot at Hänsel and Gretel is one of these, I believe.

:I'm new at this gun classification business, but I've been searching around and have yet to find a single Sistema pistol with slide markings that looked like that. I found some with crests, but they were located only on the right side of the pistol, between the text and the slide serrations. The manga shows a crest I can't identify towards the front of the slide, and I can't read the text on those scans. I really don't think they're explicitly Sistemas, though feel free to prove me wrong.

I believe I read somewhere that Roberta used Argentinian Ballester Molina's, but I do not remember where I read that.

Chang uses the Beretta 76's as his main weapon throughout the manga, the 1911's he uses in the one shootout are his bodygaurds backups. Rei Hiroe, the manga creator, knew that they were .22s from the beginning. It is mentioned in a later manga chapter, not released in the U.S. yet, that a couple of years before the manga takes place he and Balalaika had a shootout and she mentions getting hit with several .22 rounds.

Hey, I recently watched the series, and noticed some guns not present in this list.

Glock - used by bounty hunters/mercenaries, most clearly seen in the part where the bounty hunters are chasing the counterfeiter and during the ensuing gunfight on the PT boat.

Browning HP type handgun- used by Yakuza, possibly other characters -seen clearly in the last episode where it's the first handgun Kosa's bodyguard hands over to Balalaika's bodyguard. Strangely it changes into a Sig Sauer P226 when he hands it over, though!

Makarov PM - used by Balalaika's bodyguard Boris and several other Hotel Moscow soldiers when they don't have AK's.

Mossberg 590 - used by the first bounty hunter to break into the counterfeiter Jane's hotel room, and a few others. Clearly a Mossberg 590 due to the barrel shroud and tang safety (which oddly looks like a hammer to a Henry lever action rifle or something, rather than the real life safety).

Remington 870 with extended magazine - used by various thugs in the series, in addition to Marine Magnums like the one Dutch uses.

Winchester 1300 Defender/Ithaca 37 with extended magazine (?) - used by Yakuza in the bowling alley.

M249 Para(?) - when Roberta drops her suitcase machine gun, it opens and for a brief second one can see a machine gun of some sort inside. It looks to me like a Minimi/M249 Para.

NSV machine gun - the heavy machine gun used by Hotel Moscow to shoot at Hänsel and Gretel is one of these, I believe.

:I'm new at this gun classification business, but I've been searching around and have yet to find a single Sistema pistol with slide markings that looked like that. I found some with crests, but they were located only on the right side of the pistol, between the text and the slide serrations. The manga shows a crest I can't identify towards the front of the slide, and I can't read the text on those scans. I really don't think they're explicitly Sistemas, though feel free to prove me wrong.

I believe I read somewhere that Roberta used Argentinian Ballester Molina's, but I do not remember where I read that.

The 1927 model was introduced by Auto Ordnance, capitalizing on the popularity of the submachine gun and satisfying the desire for a legal version by implementing a semi-automatic version with a longer barrel but the general appearance of the full-automatic versions.
 

==M1928/M1928A1 Thompson==

The Model 1928 was more of an modified version rather than an upgrade. They are visually the same as the M1921 except they were outfitted with heavy actuators and smaller less powerful recoil springs to reduce the rate of fire. The earliest of these were converted M1921 Thompson receivers that were merely re-stamped "1928" over the original markings (hence the terminology "overstamp"). The M1928A1 was the military contract version of this weapon in 1928. It had a more crude military grade blued finish, a heavier actuator and the vertical foregrip was replaced with a horizontal handguard.

==M1 Thompson==

The M1/M1A1 were versions of the M1928A1 Thompson that were streamlined and simplified for manufacture during World War 2. Features include a non-finned barrel, simple fixed "L" style sights, no Cutts Compensators, and elimination of the knurling on actuators and fire select levers in later models. The bolt actuator was also moved from the top to the right side of the receiver, with some models having the actuator on either left or right side. Also there are examples that were parkerized rather than blued that ended up in the hands of U.S. Soldiers.

The older style M1 Thompson had a more complex bolt design with a separate firing pin later simplified in the M1A1 Thompson which had the firing pin machined into the face of the bolt. The early M1 model rear "L type" sight was prone to bend if the weapon was dropped or dig into the Soldier when in cramped conditions, so later models added "ears" to protect it. The M1/M1A1 Thompson's could not accept the 50/70 round drum magazines used on the M1921/M1928A1 models but were limited to 20-round and 30-round box magazines.

The 1911 pistol is considered by many gun collectors and veterans the greatest self-loading pistol ever made, and the grandfather of the modern handgun which, despite its age, is still used alongside modern pistols today. Designed by John Moses Browning in 1910 with patent dates going as far back as 1897, the .45 caliber pistol was adopted into the U.S. military arsenal February 14, 1911. Browning had combined traits of his former pistols and built a prototype around the recently-developed .45 ACP round. The end result was the M1911.

Browning sold the pistol to Colt, the first major company that would market the handgun. During initial testing in the military trials, the M1911 fired 1000 rounds flawlessly, becoming the first self-loading pistol to pass with a 100% grade. After World War I, the military modified the M1911 design to optimize it for combat, adding a slightly larger ejection port, shortening the trigger and arching the main-spring housing to allow the gun to better fit in the user's hand. The new firearm was called the Colt M1911A1. Many companies manufactured the 1911 for the U.S. military besides Colt, including Remington and Springfield Armory. The M1911A1's power and reliability kept it in circulation through the Korean and Vietnam Wars before the pistol began showing its age. However, it should be noted that at the time that the military began looking for a new sidearm no new M1911's had been purchased since 1945 (Note; this statement only applies to large contract orders, many small special purpose purchases have been made for 1911 pattern pistols since). In the 1980's the U.S. Military held new military trials, during which they tested numerous pistols, the finalists being the SIG-Sauer P226 and the Beretta 92F. Due to the high price of the SIG-Sauer's magazines, the 92F was chosen to replace the M1911A1, a highly controversial decision to this day.

The M1911A1 remains alive in the hands of many gun enthusiasts and many U.S. Military special forces. Modern incarnations include models built by Colt, responsible for the M1911A1, Commander and Officers series, Springfield Armory which faithfully continues building 1911's based on their original designs. Para Ordinance manufactures a number of high-capacity double stack variations, including the P-13 and P-14 and the LDA (Light Double Action). Kimber who is acknowledged as the first large scale factory mass produced "custom" 1911 manufacturer produces versions such as the Desert Warrior and the Custom II, variations that Special forces and SWAT teams use.

Countless foreign copies are also in circulation, including Llamas, Mausers, and Argentinian clones. Despite being almost 100 years old, the 1911 pistol continues to be manufactured with almost no major design changes, and has proven itself as one of the greatest handguns ever made.

The U.S. military was re-issued the 1911 pistol in 1924, now designated the M1911A1. Changes to the gun included a larger ejection port, a shortened trigger, a longer grip-safety spur to prevent hammer bite, serrated front sight, a slightly shaved hammer spur to reduce hammer bite, a curved mainspring housing, simplified checkered grips (although diamond grips still appeared on some), and relief cuts around the trigger guard on the frame.

==Colt MK IV Series 70==
The Colt MK IV Series 70 was an improvement over the M1911A1/Government Model by redesigning the barrel bushing to grip the barrel and give the production gun much improved accuracy. These "collet" bushings worked well but were prone to breaking due to being smaller than the slide diameter, hence the original bushing was made standard once again in in 1988.

The Colt MK IV Series 80 was first produced in 1983 to replace the Series 70 and is notoriously known as the first 1911 to make major improvements to the design. The first major improvement was incorporating a new firing pin block safety system, where a series of internal levers and a plunger positively blocked the firing pin from moving until the trigger was pressed, thus eliminating the possibility of the gun discharging if dropped onto a hard surface or struck hard. The second improvement to the design was adding a re-designed half-cock notch. Instead of the old hook style, the flat-top style was made to eliminate the problem of the hook breaking when the hammer slipped and fell to half cock. You can tell the gun has this feature by pulling the trigger on half cock. If the hammer falls, the gun has this type of half-cock system. Since the hammer doesn't have a sufficient distance to fall on half-cock, the weapon will not discharge. Also the series 80's had three dot sights, unlike the old fashioned iron sights. Much like the Series 70, this gun was also sold with the "collet" type barrel bushing until 1988.

The Commander model 1911 is basically an M1911A1 with a 4.25" barrel (instead of 5") produced in various styles since 1951, and was chambered in 9x19 mm Parabellum, .45 ACP, and .38 Super. There are several versions of the Commander. The original aluminum framed "Commander" was renamed the "Lightweight Commander" in 1970, when other versions of this type appeared. The "Combat Commander" is an all steel version introduced in 1970. Later versions include the Colt Commander Gold Cup National Match, the Combat Elite, and the Concealed Carry Officer's model, which mated the Commander slide & barrel with the smaller frame of the Colt Officer's Model.

Similar to the P-14, the Para Ordnance LDA (Light Double Action) is a full size, double stack .45 caliber, holding 14 shots. Unlike the P-14 or any other 1911 before though, it is outfitted with a double action trigger. ==Characteristics==
The successor to the [[Webley Mk VI]] service revolver. Introduced in 1931. It had a smaller frame and was in 38 S&W instead of the bigger .455 Webley caliber. The sxample shown here was known as the No.2MkI*. It had a bobbed 'anti snag' hammer due to troubles reported by tank crewmen. Supposedly the first model's hammer spur would catch and snag. This was the officical sidearm for the British Army until 1957 when it was replaced by the [[Browning Hi-Power]] which is still in service today.

Though it resembles the [[Webley Mk IV]] revolver it has significant engineering differences.
