Colonial Handgun (Smith & Wesson Model 686)
A heavily modified Smith & Wesson Model 686 L-Frame revolver is portrayed as the standard Colonial sidearm in both the Battlestar Galactica mini-series and the first season. Among other features the weapon has an under barrel explosive launcher (like the old LeMat "grapeshot" barrel,) although the explosive launcher was never used onscreen. The Miniseries version had hardly any real functionality and was redesigned almost from scratch for Season 1 when scripts required more specific actions with the guns. After that it was redesigned again and, starting with the early second season, the original sidearms have been nearly completely replaced by the FN Five-seveN. These guns were inconvenient as they had to be disassembled before they could be reloaded. They later returned during the flashback scenes in "Razor."

The gun appears to have been intentionally designed to resemble the gun used by Rick Deckard in Blade Runner (probably to emphasize the realistic tone of this series, as opposed to a "future show with laser-guns"). It also notable that series star Edward James Olmos also played the mysterious police officer Gaff in Blade Runner.
Colonial Standard Military Sidearm (FN FiveseveN)
From Season 2 to the end, this weapon became the standard Colonial Military sidearm. This appears to be based off of the FN FiveseveN. It keeps the underbarrel explosive launcher. This changeover allows for real semi-automatic fire and makes use of the existing stores of 5.7 x 28mm blank ammunition. The explosive launcher was muzzle loaded, and was featured in the second season episode "Valley of Darkness," but not prominently afterward.
FN P90
For the mini-series and Season 1, the FN P90 was the main assault weapon of the Colonial Marines aboard the Galactica. The attachments for the weapons (flashlight, red dot sight) are somewhat the norm for the "real world" the only difference being the attachment of a suppressor which seems to be more for dramatic effect than anything else, though may have been used to disguise the use of PS90 semi-automatic civilian models. In later seasons, the Beretta Cx4 Storm would replace this SMG, most likely due to the P90's prominent use in the series Stargate SG-1. However, the P90 would still be used (in a more minor role) throughout the run of the series.
(Based on photographic evidence only) A pistol version of the Feather AT-9 Carbine was apparently used as the basis for the Cylon Pistol. In the Season 2 episodes "Resistance" and "The Farm", a couple of SA80s with the SUSAT scope are seen in the hands of the resistance fighters on Caprica, suggesting that the SA80 is a standard issue rifle in the Colonial military.
Seburo MN-23
In the Miniseries, the Colonial security personnel on Galactica are armed with this bullpup assault rifle. It bears a resemblance to a short-barreled FAMAS with a Picatinny rail mount. This rifle was actually designed by Masamune Shirow for the Dominion: Conflict comic series, and is known as the Seburo MN-23. No known working model of this gun has been seen, so odds are during the mini-series they were the airsoft props with added flashlights. Obviously since this weapon doesn't fire or technical crew changed their minds to the Cx4, this weapon along with the Raisen only appeared briefly during one scene on the Ragnar station during the mini-series. This rifle appears to be a standard weapon for the non-military security personnel onboard Galactica.
The weapon possessed by Leoben Conoy (a Number 2) at Ragnar Station is a fictional variant of the AR-15, known as the Close Quarters Battle Weapon Type Zero, aka the "Raisen". It is a model gun designed by Poseidon Industries of Japan, a company that also makes the Seburo MN-23. In the Mini-series, Leoben's Raisen had a flashlight, sling and sight attachment to it. It is most likely a non firing prop since no known working model of the Raisen has even been seen to my knowledge. Obviously since this weapon doesn't fire or technical crew changed their minds to the Cx4, this weapon along with the MN-23 only appeared briefly during one scene on the Ragnar station during the mini-series.
Quick FYI: You replaced the picture of the 3913 on the Demolition Man page with a stock picture that you uploaded. The picture of the 3913 we have on the page is the actual screen-used gun from the movie; it was photographed by MoviePropMaster2008, who is a movie armorer and knows the guys at Cinema Weaponry (who supplied the guns used on Demolition Man). Also, while I appreciate that the 3913 "NL" is not marked "Ladysmith", the fact that it's otherwise identical to the Ladysmith model seems to obviate the need for a separate entry on the 3913 page. The markings of particular weapons are usually not enough to warrant separate gun entries (the Beretta M9, for example, is included within the Beretta 92F category on the Beretta 92 pistol series page). -MT2008 15:44, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
S&W number system
I've been interested in second and third generation S&W Autos for a while as well. I was wondering if you could fill me in on the number system they used to designate their third generation pistols? I know that 59xx are double column 9mms, 39xx are single column 9mms, 69xx are compact double-column 9mms, 40xx are .40S&W, and 45xx are .45 ACPs. With regard to the last two digits in the designation system I always seem to come across variants that contradict my understanding of the system and new number combinations I've never seen. Any information you could provide would be appreciated. -Anonymous

Michael's (Shane West) weapon of choice is a SIG-Sauer P220. Nikita gets a hold of Michael's after she pulls a secondary weapon during a confrontation in the pilot episode. He uses it to execute Dadich as part of a Division plot to discredit his name as a terorrist aside from being a war criminal.
The one exception he mentioned were centerfire Ruger pistols which he said he has never seen malfunction.

I owned a P89 that was a fantastic shooter. Way too bulky for concealed carry, but I fired the thing every weekend for a decade and never had a single malfunction. It's built like a tank as well. Very solid. The P95 however, I didn't care for. It was very plastic feeling, very toy like, and I didn't enjoy shooting it at all.

P94
Does the P94 model only hold 10 rounds? Most specifications I've read on it seem to say so, however, I wasn't sure if that was because it was using restricted capacity magazines or if it was purposely built for that capacity due to the Clinton gun ban. -Anonymous

:My P94 holds only ten rounds but it is a 40 cal. I believe the 9mm P94s hold 15.--Mpe2010 23:52, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Tattoo
I'm gonna get some tattoos in the next couple o' months, and the first I'm gonna get is the logo of Ruger. I mean I wouldn't normally take a tattoo of some company's logo, but the Ruger logo is so friggin' cool (and iconic ;) ). Of course mine's gonna be without the copyright sign, and I think I'm gonna leave the "R" out. -- Warejaws 21:32, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
I never knew that the Detective Special was made in .44 Special. Was that a very limited run or was the .44 version callled by a different name? -Anonymous
::Ah yes the things you learn from being on IMFDB ;) LOL. The gun says Detective special on the flip side. So it is definitely a CDS. :) MoviePropMaster2008 20:16, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
:::In that case is the .44 version very rare, because in alot of articles I've read in magazines and on websites about the Colt Detective Special .44 special is never listed as one of the calibers it was offered in. I'm not contending the fact that the weapon was made in .44, I'm simply curious as to why sources such as Wikipedia do not list it as among the calibers it was made in. -Anonymous
::::Never mind it appears the picture was simply mislabled -Anonymous
:::::No, it was not mislabeled. Look at the image blown up. It clearly says .44 special on the barrel. I changed the info back. MoviePropMaster2008 20:55, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
::::::In that case was this a rare version chambered in .44 special or is that a common chambering that some sources simply fail to mention? -Anonymous
:::::::Well you are right that Colt did not make a production version in .44 however being that I manage to photograph some of the weirdest one offs (usually I don't realize how weird they are when I take their pics) on the planet. I get guns from large private collections, movie armories (and of course my own large private collection and movie armory LOL ;) ) But this gun was not mine but from a gun museum collection. I don't argue with anyone re production types. The only beef I had recently regarding this was the accusation that I photoshopped the .44 special into the pic (which is something I would not do since I would much rather have a production gun than a custom one off for the page). :) MoviePropMaster2008 05:07, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

BREAKING NEWS
I finally found another nickel .38 Special CDS 3rd Gen and I photographed it and replaced that .44 Special one of a kind custom revolver, which is useless on IMFDB. From now on I won't upload any one of a kind guns or special factory gift or gunsmith one offs, since they aren't of much use to IMFDB. Thanks everyone for your patience. Finally!!! MoviePropMaster2008 06:39, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

: - Shame, I kinda liked the exceptionally rare, almost unheard-of .44 DS. Oh well, as you say, it's a extraordinary one-off and ain't good for reference. Still was neat to see though. StanTheMan 02:59, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

::::The revolver you say was used in 77 Sunset Strip is a Bankers Special. The cylinder is shorter than that in the Detective Special. The Bankers Special (rare and valuable now) was made in .38 Colt (not .38 Special) and .22 Long Rifle. As I was informed, the Bankers Special was used by Zimbalist because, as he was not a large guy, the smaller revolver made him look larger.
