The Ithaca Model 37 shotgun is the longest continuously produced shotgun in U.S. history. It was based on a competitor's previous design in 1933 and was introduced in 1937 and has been manufactured continuously until this day. It is popular with sport shooters as well as home defense and police and military. Soldiers in wars after World War 2 have opted to carry it as a short range weapon in the field.
