Black Lagoon (ブラックラグーン, Burakku Ragūn?) is manga series written and illustrated by Rei Hiroe, published in Shogakukan's Sunday GX since 2002. An animated television series based on the manga aired in Japan from April 8, 2006 to June 24 of the same year, totaling twelve episodes. A second season, subtitled "The Second Barrage", ran for twelve weeks starting on October 2, 2006.

This series follows the crew of hired guns, pirates, contract workers, whatever term you prefer them. They usually smuggle goods in and around the seas of Southeast Asia. Their base of operations is located in the fictional city of Roanapur in Thailand, and they transport goods in the PT boat Black Lagoon. When on land, they move around and conduct business using Benny's 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T (with a '69 Plymouth Roadrunner side-scoop induction hood). Lagoon Company does business with various clients, but has a particularly friendly relationship with the Russian crime syndicate Hotel Moscow. The team takes on a variety of missions—which may involve violent firefights, hand-to-hand combat, and nautical battles—in various Southeast Asian locations and when not doing much, the members of the Lagoon Company spend much of their down time at The Yellow Flag, a bar in Roanapur. Which has been destroyed at least twice during the series over gun battles and explosions relating to the Black Lagoon crew. This series has the same feel of animes like Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star and Trigun, except this takes place on Earth. You can relate the crew to also to Firefly sometimes and the theme can be compared to any of the Grand Theft Auto series. It's the kind of show that always has a gunfight in every episode and none of them disappointing.

Throughout the entire series the 2 real fighters of the crew, Revy, and her black partner, Dutch wield their usual trademark guns along with some special surprises from time to time.

The series is plagued with an assortment of weapons used almost specificly by each of the mafia and gang factions in the story. A few extra characters also wield personally made guns and guns they each exclusively use over any other extras. The other 2 main characters, Rock and Benny never fired a gun in the entire series. Rock was originally a cubical kind of guy working within a Japanese corporation. In a country where guns are banned for civilians, it would be unlikely for Rock to know anything about guns and would naturally not like them, but he had gotten used to the sound and smell of gunfire. Benny was the tech guy, computer geek kind of character. He is also a noncombatant in the series.

The more realistic notion in this series is the constant shots of characters doing reloading. Not as often as one would think, but just enough to make it convincing to the audience that the characters don't shoot fantasy guns and do reload, take their time to aim and most of the main cast and relating supporting characters storywise know what they are doing with their guns...except Rock who tries not to freak out everytime Revy lets loose
9mm Sword Cutlass aka Modded Beretta 92F
The weapons of choice for the main female character, Revy are twin modified Beretta 92Fs, which are stainless steel and have barrel and slide extended by 1cm each, most likely adapted for suppressors and covered with shrouds. If they were modded for suppressors, she never used them. They are engraved with "9mm Sword Cutlass", the Jolly Roger of the famous pirate Calico Jack (which is also inlaid into the ivory grips), and an inscription in Thai. Revy calls it the "Praiyachat Sword Cutlass Special". Due to Revy's ambidextrous marksmanship skills, she is nicknamed "Two-Hands" by the people of Roanapur. Revy always wears her Cutlass pistols from double cross draw shoulder holsters and almost all the time draws them both at the same time to lay down an incredible rate of suppressing fire at any angle.

Glock 17L
Used by the "Nun", Eda who is part of a group called "The Church of Violence" in the trade, much known for their weapons dealing. Eda once asked Revy if Jesus had a gun, what would he use? Revy responded with a Jericho 941 since it's an Israel gun made in the land where Jesus lived. Eda disagreed and say he would have the same Glock she uses, a Glock 17L. Revy argued that Jesus was a Jew so it would be nature for him to use an Israeli gun.

The Glock 17L, introduced in 1988 and incorporates a longer slide and extended barrel. Initially the 17L had three holes in the top of the barrel and a corresponding slot in the slide, however later production pistols lack the holes in the barrel. The Glock 17L is effectively discontinued, with the exception of very limited production runs. Obviously as a gun runner, Eda got her hands on one.

Modified P17 Artillery Luger
This weapon was seen used by one of the neo-nazi soldiers, but was never fired. It was seen cocked twice for some odd reason since the character already cocked it once in a previois scene. I guess it's just for showmanship. The unique luger seen was a very specialized gun with a golden finish, a huge barrel and apparently designed to fire .454 casull rounds, but while the Nazi was gloating and flaunting his gun, Revy shot him before he could use it. Before the guy died, he called his weapon the Eiserne Reich Luger Special, based on the Luger artillery long and the frame is hardened carbon with a thick grip and a two-bullet chamber. So it's safe to say this gun at least outwardly was based on the P17 Luger Artillery Model Pistol.
Desert Eagle
Used by the "mother supperior" of the Church of Violence, the one eyed, old Yolanda. She carries a special one with engravings and a bright gold construction, most likely to reflect on her personality. The Desert Eagle is a large caliber gas-operated semi-automatic pistol manufactured primarily in Israel by IMI (Israel Military Industries, now Israel Weapon Industries) for Magnum Research, Inc. Magnum Research has also marketed various versions of the short recoil Jericho 941 pistol under the Baby Eagle name; these have no functional relationship to the Desert Eagle and bear only a moderate cosmetic resemblance. The one used in the anime most likely fires the biggest bullet the Desert Eagle can handle and despite being huge, heavy and powerful, the old lady handles it like it was nothing.
Mauser C-96 Type 712
One character carries 2 of these pistols, type 712 of the Mauser C96 which had a detachable magazine instead of just loading through the top with strip clips. They were never seen used because Revy shot him while the guy Rotten the Wizard made his dramatic entrance,
Tokarev TT-33
This pistol was seen in used by plenty of people but was more prominent with the Russian Mafia, Hotel Moscow as seen used as a primary sidearm.
===== APS-1 Stechkin ===

This gun was mentioned, but actually only seen fired in full auto mode by the character Yukio Washimine who fired it pretty well in full auto mostly warning shots at Rock and then at Revy.

It's as if every gal in this anime knows how to wield guns so nicely.

1911A1
Seen plenty of during the series. One of the most commonly seen gun caricature. Most of them are either actual colt 1911s, but could be clones. The last thing we see these kinds of guns was in the last arc of the series in Japan, a yakuza group decided to do a driveby in front of a restruant and when the windows opened up, one had a 1911.

Beretta 76
For some odd reason, the crimelord of the Triad in the Roanapur wields 2 of these light cailber handguns as he did with his double ballers. The gun fires .22LR. These were seen only once when Chang fought off Gretel's firing and drove her off. His pistols could most likely be just based on the look of a Beretta 76 since in the anime it had custom pearl grips with dragons engraved on them and the chinese word "tentai", which means "Heavenly King" or something along that line
Rugar Blackhawk Single Action Revolver
Used by the Japanese character Chaka, who fancies himself as some kind of wild west gunman and wasn't a horrible shot with this antic pistol. It was later destroyed when a man named Ginji sliced it up with his superhuman strength and sword. From the looks of it, Chaka's Rugar has a rear end sight. One of the other Yakuza goons also has one. In this case it is not a Single Action Army. It is Ruger's base on an SAA. We have yet another John Woo reference.
Sistema Colt Modelo 1927
Used by a one of the more interesting characters in the series, Roberta, a former FARC guerrilla trained as an assassin. This is one of the many guns she has, which she has 2 of these. The Sistema Colt 1927 is Argentina's adoption of the US made 1911s in 1927. It's essentially a Colt 1911, just made in Argentina and given a new name.
Accu-Tek AT-380 II
After rewatching the scene with this gun, I realized the anime actually WRITES the name of the company that makes this pistol on the side of it for a split second. I looked it up and volia, a compact pistol made by a US company called ACCU-TEK. There a quite a few similiar design, so I picked the one that looks the most similiar.

This was used in the last episode once by Balilaika when she asked her Yakuza equalivent in Japan to oblige her with his guard's weapon to see their readiness on guns. Rock translates from English to Japanese and gets handed first this basic looking handgun. She laughs and calls it an "Atrocious" gun. On closer inspection it looked like the artist drew "Picatinny Rails" along the top of the slide. She kills the Yakuza boss and his guard with it, and comments that it was actually a good weapon to use and tossed it to Rock as a gift, who in the end declines it and tosses it away.

Actually the exact model of the gun remains unclear in the anime, but in the manga it appears very clarly that's it's an Accu-Tek AT-380 II. So it is safe to assume it's the same gun in both anime and manga to keep consistency

Young Revy's gun: Smith and Wesson 439
When Revy was a kid, she started her life of crime and became a killer. She was seen using this gun in her flashbacks, a S&W Classic Series, best resembling the 439.
The first weapon seen used by Roberta pretending to be a maid was disgused into an umbrella, giving the intention of the weapon a sort of Pengiun from Batman feel, except the Batman villian never fired a 12-gauge shotgun from his umbrella. It was fired in semi-auto since Roberta was holding her suitcase in the other hand which contained many other weapons.
AK-47 - AK-74 - SVD and other variants
These are the weapons, obviously the AK47, used by almost every faction in the entire anime. Symbolism to the obvious prolific nature of the imfamous Assault Rifle. It has been used by all the mafia groups, but more or less seen more prominently by the Russian group, Hotel Moscow, a group comprised mainly of ex-Russian Special Forces, a lot of them veterans of the war in Afganistan during the late 80s. The main weapon seen as a standard are the AKs that uses the 5.45mm rounds mostly AK-74s, sometimes 74Us and even current models. There is one depiction of an SVD like weapon with a large magazine capacity, but it could just be a mistake in drawing, or it could might as well be a custom long barrel AK-47 with a scope attached to it. The actual SVD has been seen used by the leader of Hotel Moscow in her days in the Afgan war and by her men later on. While the other groups are seen with usually AK-47 and its variants, Hotel Moscow is seen more with the AK-74, AKS-74, and AK-74Us among other Russian weapons.
APS Underwater assault Rifle
This was used once as one of those exotic 15 minutes of fame kind of guns that makes a "guest" appearence in an episode. This rifle was given to Revy from Dutch at the end of one episode for an underwater mission to retrieve a precious painting from a sunken Nazi submarine that ended up in the South Pacific. Revy fired the weapon inside the sub against the Neo-Nazis that also were after this prize. Strangely she was using a weapon that was solely designed to fire underwater in air, which the sub was still full of. She actually fired the gun underwater at two divers on the surface next to the pod, which is what the APS Underwater was designed for.
In several scenes, we see random mercenaries in the background. On closer look of screenshots, all of them are the kinds that were first seen in action during the Vietnam conflict. It makes sense since they are most likely mercenary groups in the south pacfic where Vietnam is. After any major war, there is always surplus in arms supplies.

Seen only in one episode introduing the extra character, Rico an "Apprentice Priest" with the Church of Violence. He provided support fire while his "sisters" unloaded to intruders trespassing on their "sacred grounds". The M60 (formally the United States Machine Gun, Caliber 7.62 mm, M60) is a family of American general purpose machine guns firing 7.62x51mm NATO cartridges from a disintegrating belt of M13 links.

Introduced in 1957, until recently it remained in use in every branch of the U.S military and still serves in other armed forces. Its manufacture and continued upgrade for military and commercial purchase continues into the 21st century though it has been replaced or supplemented in most roles by other designs, notably the M240 (U.S. Forces' nomenclature for the FN MAG-58) in U.S service.

The one Rico used once in the series had the bipod in the very forward position and there was no foregrip for a second hand. His was meant solely as a fixed placement machinegun.
This was shown twice on the Neo-Nazi ship, fired once when Revy tried to surface. One of the leaders of the Nazis, panic when seeing Revy rampaging on the ship. === Browning Automatic Rifle M1918A3 ===

This was one of the speciality weapons used in the series to show a more personal aspect in how an assassin and her choice of gun is. This awesome weapon of the past is used by Gretel, the girl twin of a very disturbing pair of assassins. Because it's an anime, the artists several times drew the BAR to be extremely bigger than the user to show how freakishly strong she is. Apparently she uses the M1918A3 model introduced in 1940.

And Gretal usually hides it in a cute blanket with a small teddy bear attached to the end of a string holding the whole thing together. In the first instance Gretel busted her weapon out, there was a small doll handing at the end of the sling. BAR she uses has a more dark grey finish to it.
Arwen 37
Twice in the series, an Arwen 37 Grenade launcher of unknown type was show it looked similiar to the one in picture. The ARWEN 37 is a less-lethal launcher which fires 37 mm less-lethal rounds (foam or wooden or tear gas payload) designed for riot control. It has a 5-round rotary drum magazine. "ARWEN" is an acronym for "Anti Riot Weapon ENfield".

The real verison was designed in 1977 by the British Royal Small Arms Factory (RSAF) Enfield, then part of the Royal Ordnance Factories. It came out of a British Military request for a multi-shot riot control weapon. Three prototypes were designed and tested: a semi-automatic weapon, a rotary-drum weapon, and a pump-action weapon. At the end of testing the rotary-drum model was put into production.

As of 2001, all ARWEN trademarks and patents are owned by Police Ordnance Company Inc. The weapon is manufactured under license in Canada.

Originally this weapon in real life is supposed to be a less than lethal launcher that would fire tear gas among other types of less than lethal ammo, but in the series it fired actual grenades, creating large explosions.
TOW Missile Launcher
Seen used by the Neo-Nazis on their ship they took to the South Pacific seas for their mission. The ship alone was just a research type freighter, so they wouldn't naturally have weapons against other ships. To the dismay and surprise of the Lagoon crew, the Neo-Nazis fired several missiles against them, which narrowly survived the attack by running out of missile range.

Unknown Remington rifle
Have yet to get a picture of this weapon Revy uses once in episode 11. I know it's a Remington because she says in on screen and also mentions a type of ammo called Hydra API(Armor Piercing Incendiary). Whatever it is, it has a wooden frame, a very basic look to it. Nothing special almost like a hunting rifle. Attached was a scope, maybe a 10x. The Anime inaccurately has her firing the rifle in semi auto when clearly it's a bolt action weapon.

Gepard? anti material rifle
In the first episode, Revy busted out this rifle only once. She refered to it as her anti-tank rifle, but never said what it was. Designs are unfamiliar to me. I would assume a 50 cal from the magazine she inserted in the series. Will show more up close pics once I find them.

It could also be a fictional "semi-auto" version of the Denel 20, a 14.7mm or 20mm rifle. The Halo sniper rifles are also modeled after the Denel 20 and are all semi-auto while the factual rifles are bolt action and purely designed for anti-material use.

Or a fictional "semi auto?" Hungarian Gepard hence the bipod.

In this second picture, it looks like the artist drew the rifle a little smaller and not so imposing from the first shot. It could be a different weapon all together.

They were never seen used because Revy shot him while the guy Rotten the Wizard made his dramatic entrance,
Seen plenty of during the series.
Most likely custom 1911s, but Chang has been seen with these guns again using them like he is some John Woo character.

It could also be a fictional "semi-auto" version of the Denel 20, a 14.7mm or 20mm rifle, due to the side-fed magazine. The Halo sniper rifles are also modeled after the Denel 20 and are all semi-auto while the factual rifles are bolt action.
In this second picture, it looks like the artist drew the rifle a little smaller and not so imposing from the first shot. It could be a different weapon all together.
In the opening scenes of Shooter Swagger (Mark Wahlberg), on mission in Ethiopia, is seen firing both a Barrett M82 and a M40A3 sniper rifle. Even though this rifle is a semi-automatic in real life, in the movie, Swagger racks the charging handle between shots. ==Cheyenne Tactical M-200 Intervention==
This hefty rifle fires the extremely ballistically efficient .408 Chey-Tac round. As a result, this rifle, with correctly manufactured ammunition, can be effectively used out to distances of approimately 1.5 miles. The rifle is usually used with a ballistic computer that calculates bullet trajectory based on atmospheric conditions but is shown by itself in the hands of Swagger, firing at a tin can and hitting it at a supposed 1 mile range. While it is possible, one must realize that the average grouping for even the best rifle (the M-200 being high on that list) at this range will be approximately 20 inches at 2000 yards. Keeping that in mind, the scene was obviously used to showcase Swagger's supernatural ability to snipe.
As his primary weapon in the film, a heavily modified version of the Smith & Wesson Model 629 is used by Xander Cage (Vin Diesel). In addition to the assortment of non-lethal projectiles it can fire, it is also fitted with a serrated blade under the barrel, a laser pointer, and a C-More red dot sight.

Note: This weapon may not be a Model 629 as originally believed, it possibly could be the similar looking Model 610.

:Long Mountain Outfitters (who took the photo of the movie gun shown below) have said on their site that it's a 629. They even have the serial number for the gun. If they saw it up close, I doubt they'd make that mistake. See http://www.longmountain.com/movieguns/XXX

Ongoing Battle Point: The 629 does not have a large underbarrel profile, but a more traditional revolver look, however the 610 looks exactly like the weapon pictured. This is an honest mistake as most S&W's are named with number and letter denominations and few carry actual names.

This is going to be a special project for me since I am a fan of anime and what guns are in anime and this one certain has a lot to show. Stay tune for more -Excalibur01

Revy always wears her Cutlass pistols from a double cross draw shoulder shoulder and almost all the time draws them both at the same time to lay down an incredible rate of suppressing fire at any angle.
Smith & Wesson 629
Remington 870 (Specifically Marine Magnum Model)
This is Dutch's secondary weapon he only uses when on a bigger mission such as the episode where he and Revy assaulted a ship full of Neo-Nazis. He wielded this gun with tactical ease needing to reload only after expending all seven rounds that can be loaded at one time.
This GL was used a few times, mostly in the first couple episodes where Revy single handedly destroyed at least 6 pirate ships with her perfect aim.

Unknown "anti-tank rifle
In the first episode, Revy busted out this rifle only once. She refered to it as her anti-tank rifle, but never said what it was. Designs are unfamiliar to me. I would assume a 50 cal from the magazine she inserted in the series. Will show more up close pics once I find them.

It could also be a fictional "semi-auto" version of the Denel 20, a 14.7mm or 20mm rifle. The Halo sniper rifles are also modeled after the Denel 20 and are all semi-auto.

In this second picture, it looks like the artist drew the rifle a little smaller and not so imposing from the first shot. It could be a different weapon all together.

RPG
Seen in use quite a few times in the series, but was first seen used by Revy at the end of episode one when she fired a "warning shot" at a larger carrier ship to make them stop so they can rob them.

H&K G3 Assault Rifle
First seen in the first episode when Levy tossed one to Rock to use to defend himself. He didn't know anything about guns and refused. After a heated battled with a Hind helicopter, in a fit of rage, he threw the rifle in the air and into the ocean, pissing off Revy because it musta cost her plenty.

The old G3 rifles have been seen in the hands of Triad boss, Chang's security detail in a few episodes though they sometimes go back to AKs.
Modified Luger

Browning Automatic Rifle M1918A3
This was one of the speciality weapons used in the series to show a more personal aspect in how an assassin and her choice of gun is.

For some odd reason, the crimelord of the Triad in the Roanapur wields 2 of these light cailber handguns as he did with his double ballers. The REAL Beretta 76 fires .22LR rounds. These were seen only once when Chang fought off Gretel's firing and drove her off. His pistols could most likely be just based on the look of a Beretta 76 since in the anime it had custom pearl grips with dragons engraved on them and the chinese word "tentai", which means "heavenly King". The clips of it a zoomed in look shows the clips appears to house larger caliber ammunitions. Since this is an anime, they can do whatever they want.
On closer inspection it looked like the artist drew rails along the top of the slide. Nothing special almost like a hunting rifle. Attached was a scope, maybe a 10x. The Anime inaccurately has her firing the rifle in semi auto when clearly it's a bolt action weapon.

Revy always wears her Cutlass pistols from a double cross draw shoulder shoulder and almost all the time draws them both at the same time to lay down an incredible rate of suppressing fire at any angle.

Modified Luger

Browning Automatic Rifle M1918A2
This was one of the speciality weapons used in the series to show a more personal aspect in how an assassin and her choice of gun is. This awesome weapon of the past is used by Gretel, the girl twin of a very disturbing pair of assassins. Because it's an anime, the artists several times drew the BAR to be extremely bigger than the user to show how freakishly strong she is. Apparently she uses the M1918A2 model introduced in 1940.

And Gretal usually hides it in a cute blanket with a small teddy bear attached to the end of a string holding the whole thing together. In the first instance Gretel busted her weapon out, there was a small doll handing at the end of the sling. BAR she uses has a more dark grey finish to it.
Nothing special almost like a hunting rifle. Attached was a scope, maybe a 10x. The Anime inaccurately has her firing the rifle in semi auto when clearly it's a bolt action weapon.

Revy always wears her Cutlass pistols from a double cross draw shoulder shoulder and almost all the time draws them both at the same time to lay down an incredible rate of suppressing fire at any angle.

It could also be a fictional "semi-auto" version of the Denel 20, a 14.7mm or 20mm rifle. The Halo sniper rifles are also modeled after the Denel 20 and are all semi-auto.
Modified Luger
